Knessets Labour, Welfare and Health Committee has voted to approve a new bill which will see the complete ban of anorexic models within the fashion industry.  The bill promotes heath and will ensure that all models used in advertisments across the country have a healthy Body Mass Index.  This provides a duty of care to both the advertisers and the model agencies providing them for advertisements.

The bill goes on to say that male and female models found to be underweight for his/her age will not feature in advertisements and that graphic editing software can not be used to edit the models image to make them seem slimmer to a unnatural or underweight status.
Hiam Katz the Knesset Chairman concluded by saying

"These statistics are horrifying. We aim to prevent any harm to the health of children and adolescents. Hurting the modeling industry is saddening, but if we know we've saved one child and one family in Israel – it's good enough."

It is a shame that large western countries are not facing up to their responsibilities to protect models in the same manner, but hope this will start to provide significant pressure internationally.

Mia Amber Davis the beautiful plus sized model has died, one day after undergoing routine knee surgery to an old college injury.  The Vivacious model who had been responsible for modelling opportunities for curvy women was an inspiration to many.

It is not thought that Mia’s weight was anything to do with her death.

Mia was a great advocate for diversity within the model and acting industries, often voicing her disdain over the prejudice for the larger woman.
As well as acting roles, many will remember Mia as her modelling work with the likes of Ashley Stewart and Jill Scott’s Butterfly Bra.

'Mia was a super model and industry leader because it was her love for the women she represented that kept pushing her when the industry itself did not embrace her.

'Anyone else would have given up, but Mia remained steadfast in her career, knowing that she was not just doing it for her own benefit, but for women of all ages.

'Never one to put anyone down, Mia was about lifting up people and connecting them with others to help them on their journey and never asking for anything in return', she added.

The mummified remains for ex Playboys Playmate Yvette was discovered at her home earlier this week.  Police suggest that given the mummified state of her body that she has been dead for close on a year.

The now 82-year-old ex-model was a renown reclusive, with no regular contact from friends and family she was rarely seen by her neighbours.  A neighbour discovered her body when they noticed lots of old letters and cob webs around Yvette’s postbox.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious.

Young teenage model Gabby Joseph has died after being hit by a train in what is believed to be a tragic suicide.  The model left messages on facebook before her death, which have since been deleted, although several comments (believed to relating to her modelling work), still online such as;

"In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different."

It is unclear what the motivation would have been as her friends described as a “happy person”. Gabby’s aunty Carolyn Gammon goes on to say:

"Gabby showed no signs of depression. We just don't know what happened”.

"All we know is that she left a message on Facebook which has been deleted. We would urge any youngsters not to bottle things up and talk to people instead of going on websites."

Her death is not being treated as suspicious although will be reviewed by the coroner to make a judgement as to the cause.

We would urge all young people to discuss any issues with their friends and family rather than allowing the issues to build up to an extent whereby you feel trapped.  It is more important for those involved within the model industry to do this, due to the pressure of rejections and castings, it can be a very difficult industry to work within and one where you need support from your friends/family.

Screen beauty Angelina Jolie is set to become the new face of fashion house Louis Vuitton.

Angelina Jolie is following in the steps of other actresses turned models who have worked for the brand, such as Jennifer Lopez and Madonna. The trend for large brands to use actresses is a growing issue for many models, as they are often the second to many designers and often for much less.

Jolie is set to make close to $6-million for the contract.

Jolie, will no doubt bring a massive amount of style and controversy. Having previously revealed she loves letting her children dress however they want

She goes on to say: “Children should be allowed to express themselves in whatever way they wish without anybody judging them because it is an important part of their growth.

"I think Shiloh is fascinating, the choices she is making. And I would never be the kind of parent to force somebody to be something they are not. I think that is just bad parenting.

Young 22-year-old fashion model Kim Yu-ri was found dead on Monday evening in a flat in Samseong-dong.  Police have confirmed that the fashion model was just 47kg at the time of her death, at 177cm tall her BMI is at 15. Although confirmed as not annorexic, a BMI of just 15 would have put the model in the 'at risk' band of severely underweight on the international scale.

The cause of death is yet to be confirmed, but the police have ruled out homicide or suicide. It is believed that a combination of sleeping tablets and a painkillers may have caused her already weak body to simply close-down.

Kim entered the model industry in 2007, entering several contests during the year. Since then Kim has been tipped as one of the most promising figures to watch coming out of the Asian markets; with many expecting her to break into the international circuit. Having just finished a collection for Lee Sang-bong, the model was travelling more and had a very promising future in the industry.

Although the model industry in Asia is still developing in their very early stages, the market is already very saturated with young talent hoping to make a better life for themselves, with many of the even well known names making just ten thousand dollars a year.  With most Asian models finding it very difficult to find work after their mid-twenties.

We hope the industry in Asia starts looking at welfare of the stars, to ensure a brighter and more prosperous industry for all involved.

Dr Davide Dragone and Dr Luca Savorelli, researchers at the University of Bologna, claim that by getting rid of super-skinny models will wosen the nations obesity epidemic.

Within their paper ""Thinness and Obesity: A Model of Food Consumption, Health Concerns, and Social Pressure" they write:

'If being overweight is the average condition and the ideal body weight is thin, increasing the ideal body weight may increase welfare by reducing social pressure.

'By contrast, health is on average reduced, since people depart even further from their healthy weight.

'Given that in the US and in Europe people are on average overweight, we conclude that these policies, even when are welfare improving, may foster the obesity epidemic.'

The paper comes at a time where there has been a reported 80% increase in the rise of the number of young girls admitted to hospital during the last decade due to anorexia.

Simon Lawton-Smith from Mental Health Foundation, goes on to say 'The idealising of underweight models can set unrealistic expectations.

'A perceived failure to meet these expectations can lead to low self-esteem, anxiety and serious mental health problems such as depression.

'These in turn can increase the likelihood of developing an eating disorder.'

Furthermore, we believe that the main issue has been overlooked. Models are not toys that can be played with for the purpose of public education. These are real people, people that have and can die because of malnutrition, that suffer a variety of physical and mental issues because of trying to achieve something that is un-natural and impossible for a good portion of the population.

If life were as simple as a text book, these researchers may well make a fair point. However, before trying to undo years of hard work from all those who have campaigned for a healthier industry, these researchers should go and discuss the reality of size zero goals with those parents that have lost their teenage children to this "ideal".

Preeti Desai, the first Asian woman to win the prestigious title of Miss Britain (2006 title winner), has been embroiled in a topless photo scandal. The model-turned-actress has had a collection of topless photos released on the internet.

The former Miss Britain poses with nothing but a white bikini bottoms in some of the shots.  Given the recent progress into the world of Bollywood films, these photos could not only damage her personal life but her professional life. She is currently siad to be dating Abhay Deol (an Indian Actor), although many of the communities are becoming more accepting, these types of photos can do untold damage to individuals.

Speaking via a press release, Preeti claimed that the photos were morphed and that she had never posed for them. A specialist goes on to tell us that there are clear signs that the photos have been manipulated and that the level of skill would indicate that its nothing more than a amature editor. 

Stunning 20-year-old model made the transition from local model to mini celebrity overnight.

The stunner shocked some, but mainly excited most with the promise to strip, should India win the Cricket World Cup title.

The model has since had various threat calls, death letter and even an arrest warrant served because of her comment. Although staying a delight to the nation throughout several interviews since; Poonam has even received offers of Bollywood movie roles.

It is expected that if the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India)  permits her to do so, that we could see the uphold her promise during the next month.

Male supermodel Eric Zentner has been killed by a hit-and-run driver. The model who has worked on campaigns for the likes of Versace and Louis Vuitton is a regular on the international circuit.

Fox report that Eric’s car ran out of petrol on Saturday evening and the model was trying to walk to a close petrol station when he was hit by a Dodge Caravan.  The driver has yet to be apprehended and it is thought that the model would have survived if medical treatment was provided immediately.

Zach Zentner (Eric’s cousin) said. "I just wonder what their situation is. I hope they can bring it to themselves to come forward and admit it to themselves. They need to do something about this and say 'this is what happened.' "

Model Chesca Miles isn't your average model, the Staines based catwalk model has just become the U.K.'s first professional stunt rider.  At just 20 years old, Chesca has only been riding for 6 years and only started doing tricks and stunts 7 months ago.

Chesca makes her solo debut this Sunday at Santa Pod Raceway in Northamptonshire.

She told the Evening Standard: 'It’s been tough. The boys resent the fact that I am woman who can ride a bike as well as or better than them.

'I love being on the catwalk and in front of the camera but not as much as being on a bike.

'Stunt work is not just about high-speed chases, it’s also about control, balance and mastery of the machine.'

As with any stunt work thee is always the risk of physical injury (which could obviously damage the models career), however, to date the worst injuries picked up by the beauty was a a broken toe!!

She said: 'Being a stunt girl means that you are a much safer rider on the roads — but then it’s all the other motorists you have to worry about.'

Our best wishes to the model, who is also tipped to be working on a singing career.

The first model agency specialising in representing models with Down Syndrome has been launched in Dublin to coincide with World Down Syndrome Day (21st March 2011).

The agency is representing approximately 20 people aged between 5 and 33.  It is expected that they will be paid similar fees to other models working within the industry and that the breakthrough may aid the cause for a more diverse indudstry.

We all guessed it would take a week or two before the marriage desperation and want for more kids from anyone started from glamour model Katie Price.

The grubby model is now begging her toybow Leandro Penna to marry her, with reports that she was hounding Leandro; 'Marry me. Come on, why don't we just go and get married?'

Given that she still hasn't got her divorce through yet, doesn't seem the most intelligent words to exit the mother of three.  The model tore up London, even stopping off at Merah Nightclub and emptying her guts over the fire exit (classy lady).  Not only is she doing her professional career within the model industry massive damage, potentially losing what sponsorships she still has. What brand really wants the image of a desperate thirty-something mother who pukes all over nice classy establishments?

I'm sure Peter Andre must really miss such a classy lady on his arm?  Although I'm surprised any court would view her behaviour of late as fit for a mother?

Without doubt one of the most beautiful women to grace film and photo, Marilyn Munroe's last photo shoot with photographer Bert Stern is up for sale, some 39 years after her death.

The nine photos of a topless Marilyn show a sample of her grace, elegance of beauty. She is pictured with a see-through scarf and playing about with pouts and poses that she was famous for.

The photos are due to sell for between £15,000 - £20,000  when they are put under the hammer at the Swann Gallery in New York, USA on 24th March.

Daile Kaplan, from the auction house goes on to say;

‘It is unique and includes a red cross over one of the pictures that Marilyn did herself because she didn't like it - it is not as erotic as the rest.

‘The photos discreetly reveal her nudity and showed how Stern engaged her as an actress, model and woman.

‘Marilyn had had problems prior to this, she'd gone through two divorces and apparently was hospitalised the year before.

Without any doubt a troubled lady, but one who could still have out-modelled many of her equals today!

We have discussed the use of photo-shoping and airbrushing with some of the top experts in the U.K. and when used correctly can have excellent improvements for both the model and brand.  As all humans, models do some times have 'off days' where a blemish or two couple make or break a shoot.

The well developed photoshop software that allows users to edit and manipulate images can really improve our natural human flaws. However, should it be used to make a model look unnatural and develop unrealistic aims of its viewers on perfection.

As you can see from the attached picture; the editors at Victoria's Secret have editted this models thighs to an unnatural and quite bizarre shape. Not even John Wayne could pull off such a bizzare inner thigh after riding banner for hours.

Styleite wrote: 'We’re totally creeped out by the way this model’s airbrushed thighs  don’t appear to connect to the rest of her body. The lack of shadow where her leg meets the romper is also indicative of an awful cut-and-paste job.'

Models should start writing into releases about the level of editing that can be done on their photos - do you really want everyone to think you have dislocated hips?

Boa Constrictor has bit Orit Fox, a Israeli B-List model during a shoot in Tel Aviv.  The shoot has been going well, with the snake wrapped around her wait, neck and legs.  However, when the model licked the reptile, it took offense and decided to take a bite out of the models prized assets.

The snake sunk its teeth deep into the models bulging bust; after a few second an assistant at the shoot was able to release the animal and Orit was taken to a nearby hospital for a tetanus shot.

The Boa wasn't as fortunate and died some time later of silicone poisoning.

Perhaps both sides may learn something from this incident; you only lick a reptile when invited and always check the goods are home grown before taking a bite; you never know whats hiding beneath!

Rumours that the snake died from Silicone poisoning are untrue according to wildlife experts. The experts insist that snakes can eat pretty much anything without feeling any ill-effect. 

19-year-old Australian beauty Lauren Bable joins the Hugh Hefner mansion this week for a St Patricks Day tea party, having won a Girls of Playboy Golf competition, held here on the Gold Coast in November.

Lauren hopes that after meeting the famous ladies man himself, she may even be able to make the mansion her permanent residency.

The model will be wearing a green brazilian bikini made by local goldcoast designer Joanne Rahn. Lauren goes on to tell Gold Coast News:

"I would love to meet Hugh Hefner," she said yesterday before catching her flight today.

"He is such an amazing icon and an inspiration."

If everything goes well, Lauren hopes to move the LA to advance her modelling career and take advantage of her dual American / Australian citizenship.

Stunning Models, draped in gorgeous evening dresses and wedding dresses; you could have been forgiven to think you were in the middle of a Paris Fashion Week.  However, this was the first and very rare fashion show being held Palestinian capital Ramallah.

The show was part of a three day exhibition, bringing together a host of designers; was topped by Palestinian designer Jamal Taslaq and the runway show even featured some remixed Arabic pop music. At a press conference before the show started Jamal tells of his excitement at bringing his 20-years of experience back home;

"At every fashion show in Italy or Europe, I always add something related to Palestinian heritage in the designs or Palestinian embroidery done in a modern way because the past is the future,".

Palestinian Authority culture secretary Siham Barghouti welcomed the show;

"This is an opportunity to give a Palestinian creator the chance to stage a presentation in his own country, Palestine,".

Obviously not everybody was thrilled about the fashion show, which attracted the wrath of at least one Hamas representative. Hamid al-Bitawi; accusing the Palestinian government of tryign to "spread corruption" amongst the youth and calling the show"immoral". Whatever the opinion of the minorities, we hope this is a real sign that things are changing and freedom is spreading to these countries. The Arab world has a lot to offer the fashion industries, with a growing interest in Arab cultures following the ongoing renaissance in the region.

Miss HIV-Positive Living, Shingirirai Makoni speaks out at a recent health function;

“With these curves that I have who would think that I am HIV-positive. Most people have the wrong notion that being HIV-positive means being scrawny and thin. Just look at my backside, would you believe that I am living with the virus?”

Many people suffer from the HIV virus within the rural communities within Chiwundura/Zimbabwe, many have never been tested and are worried about what it would mean if they are diagnosed.  Unfortunately this can lead to the increased spread of the disease. The pageant which started in 2009, has no sponsors; but is a public initiative from people within the community to increase the awareness of the disease and living with its effects.

Shingirirai goes on to tell local newspapers;

“Ours is not like the other big beauty pageants that are glamorous and winners come out with big prizes. Our pageant is one of conscience, to say look if we don’t showcase the beauty of living positively with HIV, nobody will do so on our behalf,”

“You have to look at your reflection in the mirror and say ‘I am proud that I have chosen to be open about my HIV status. I want others to appreciate me as I am.’ I also encourage everyone to know their HIV status and to get access to drugs in time to avoid waiting to act when they fall ill,” said the tough-talking HIV-positive model.

Her final statement;  “My brother, if you do not know your HIV status, go and get tested now. Be a model to your community and the rest of the world.”

Glamour Model Katie Price (aka Jordon), filed for divorce from her husband Alex Reid on Thursday 10th March 2011, citing "unreasonable behaviour" as her reason behind their breakup. Should Alex agree to the terms filed by Katie Price, their marriage could be over within just weeks, although should there be any disagreement by Alex it could be April before the pair official break ties.

Katie Price is reported to be worth in excess of £40 million and it is expected that the financial statement could be the only 'sticking point' in the divorce. Although the breakup was just two months ago, Katie is now believed to be dating a fellow model Leandro Penna.  Lets hope this one doesn't end up a publicity stunt marriage; as there are children involved, children that need stability; not ever changing male role models!

There have been rumours and speculation as to the new venture by retired model Tyra Banks.  Banks, who herself has suffered with weight yoyoing has quite possibly struck gold again with this excellent idea.

The purpose of the website is to celebrate all that is individual and diverse about the female form.  Rather than stereotyping sizes; providing key advice and designs for their specific shapes and sizes.

Tayra goes on to tell the Ellen DeGeneres Show that the problem with magazines such as the ones she has spent most of her modellign career working with is that they tell women they need to look a certain way or they are not good enough, or simply put "losers". Tayra goes on to express that there is a great need for magazines and beauty supplements that talk about reinforcing natural beauty rather than imposing editors and designers concepts and ideas of female beauty.

The website is all about personalisation and customising to make styles and trends suitable for the wearer not trying to change the readers perceptions and beliefs about themselves to fit the designers styles. The website will provide a range of tips and advice specific to each member and thier individuality.

We hope that the same ideas and concepts of a more rounded and diverse image is processed more across all ranges of the model industry and perhaps small steps by key figures within the industry will make for a more diverse model industry.

Daniel Lee Yang Siew, claimed he was a model agent in various advertisments online. His sole purpose was to gain financially from promises of model contracts, fame and fortune. Although as we see so often, these claims were nothing but elaborate lies to gain money from the model.

The 35-year-old first met the then 16-year-old Vanessa Ho Shi Yuan when she had responded to an online ad. He firstly talked the young model into having a portfolio of pictures created, and managed to obtain over $3,000. The young model had pawned her laptop, iphone, family jewels; basically everything she owned, for the chance of hitting the big time and becoming famous.

Thankfully, after the pictures did not materialise, the young model was then brave enough to contact the police and give them the detail, the police took the case seriously and have managed to get the case to court.  However, the young girl is unlikely to trust anyone enough to re-try getting into the industry via an authentic route.

It is a pitty that in the UK the police are as of yet not as keen to press legal charges against agents and photographers gaining money via deception and are instead instructing the trading standards to investigate.  Even when proven to be acting illegal, its often the case that the "agent" or "photographer" get off with little more than a slap on the wrist.

It seems the same newspaper headlines, blog tags and twitters we see everyday, another reason for those that dislike the industry to have more ammunition against us all.

Just some of the headlines during the last few weeks.  Is the Model Industry really that bad? Well Yes and No; its a bit like asking are all social workers abusive to old people because we hear of a few cases every year.  Every industry will have its idiots and foe's, modelling is not an exception.

The reason the model industry will always get a bit of a harder time in the press is that we are supposed to be the pinnacle of excellence, the best of the best. Unfortunately when you put yourself on a pedestal; people like to take shots!  

Comments like John Galliano's to two women he assumed to be Jewish of "People like you ought to be dead. Your mothers, your forefathers would all be gassed. I love Hitler", will never help the industry.  However, its important to remember just because he is a talented designer does not make him a nice person or even a decent human being.

The model and fashion industry can be ugly, but can't everyone?

Not your typical model to be picked as the face-of-a-brand, however, I'm sure her popularity and family name had more than a little to do with why Madonna has selected Kelly as her new face of.

However, Kelly certainly seems to be in demand with the new contract and also linking up with Badgley Mischka;

‘I promised Badgley Mischka I’d only appear for them at New York Fashion Week,’ said Kelly, 26.

‘And Georgina sends me loads of her Marchesa dresses. They’re my favourite.’

With more celebrities to choose from, I am sure you will see a growing number of singers, actresses, dancers, and socialites hitting the catwalks and magazine covers.  Although modelling will always be a profession; it seems many brands want to be associated with people that are on-screen as well as in print.

No great surprises that GaGa was going to lend some of her gold-dust to her stylist Nicola Formichetti as the new creative director of Thierry Mugler; tonight at the Paris Fashion Week delivered an amazing effort on the catwalk.

In the usual Lady Gaga style; outrageous sheer dress and military inspired hat, firmly setting her status as Formichetti's muse.  The 24-year-old artist wore her hair in long blonde pigtails and strutted along to her own music; the debut of her new track Government Hooker. 

Although there is no reason to think Gaga will be a regular on the catwalk; she looked perfectly at home and with other super models including Jessica Stam, Coco Rocha and Alex Wek all made up as Gaga-look-a-likes; flowing peroxide tails everywhere!

For all the young catwalk stars, even experienced performers get nervous walking the catwalk, Gaga posted on twitter hours before going on;

'I have a monster fashion announcement are your paws up? I am so excited I might give birth to a machine gun.'

An hour later she announced: 'I’m making my debut as a runway model, walking in MUGLER PARIS FASHION SHOW 3/2.'

Miranda Kerr took to the catwalk for the first time since giving birth two months ago, looking radiant and as stunning as ever during the Baleciaga show.

Miranda looked more modestly covered than when we have seen her pre-pregnancy; modelling for the likes of Victoria's secret. However, nobody could have chosen quite an cool and well stated catwalk comeback after the short break.  Balenciaga has for some time been the label for women that wanted a more edgy look (over the everyday trends).

Its really nice to see Miranda Kerr back in action and can't wait to the summer and perhaps a step back to her lingerie and swimwear work; which will see Miranda really take the crown as the worlds most yummy mummy!

Thieves smashed into the offices at Premier Model Management; smashed open safes and stole a pile of confidential records and documents.  These documents could have contained anything from home addresses, next of kin, bank details, phone numbers, personal email accounts etc.  The firm which represent A-listers siuch as Myleene Klass, Kelly Brook, Lisa Snowdon, Caprice and Holly Valance are now worried about the security of its best talents.

A company insider told the Mirror Newspaper;  “We don’t know exactly how much information the thieves got hold of yet, but we’re worried it could include really personal details about our biggest clients.

“Some of the information we store can be very sensitive and concerns some very well known fashion and modelling personalities, so the most confidential documents are always kept under lock and key in a safe at the office.

“Somehow the thieves managed to force their way into our safe so everyone here is now on maximum alert about what we keep hold of and shredding anything that isn’t needed.

The insider goes on to say;

“There’s even concern that some of the information could damage the reputation of our clients if it was made public.”

The gang also stole jewellery and valuables worth thousands of pounds from the safe.

It is very unclear at the moment what the motive of the raid was; although jewellery were taken there was not sufficient value to warrant the professional execution of the break-in.  One may ponder as to who is behind the raid; professionals looking to make money from confidential information, or opportunists who have now been told how valuable their little stash may actually be! Whatever the reason, the fact that Premier Model Management do not seem to have a valid data protection license within the ICO (http://www.ico.gov.uk/ESDWebPages/search.asp ) some questions may be raised about the way the organisation secure their confidential records.

The Harry Potter stunner, has put together yet another excellent collection for eco friendly fashion label the People Tree.  Emma, 20 designed the new range and has even travelled to Bangladesh to see the factories where the items are made.

The new range has been launched in time for the Fairtrade Fornight which starts this coming Monday. Although still not a high-street concept, its really nice to see a young a privellege actor not take the work and effort of those behind the scenes for granted. Too many of the dresses knocked out into highstreet stores by the big brands are literally killing thousands of young children who are made to work in dreadful conditions.

Emma goes on to tell Sun Newspaper;    She said: "It was an incredible and life-changing experience. I wish everyone had the chance to see the difference Fairtrade makes."

Lets keep the cost in mind, a standard dress that you could purchase at say Newlook for £26.99 or River Islands for £36.99 would cost just £65.00 from the People Tree.  In the scheme of things its another three to four hour work for most people in the UK; surely worth it to know your fashion isn't killing people?

Without any doubt Erdem is an excellent designer and his Autumn/Winter range is without doubt another example of his vast talent and amazing artistic flare; however, his choice of model on the catwalk were someone worrying.

I couldn't help but feel slightly put off by the wonderful dresses, colours and cuts, by two of the models; gaunt and skelton like figures walking up and down the catwalk.  In fact my mind turned more to how to get them food, than how good the collection was.

The Mental Health Foundation went on to call the choice of models "irresponsible and dangerous".

Although there is little doubt that models such as Chloe ­Memisevic have the talent as catwalk models, at a mere 5-odd stone and so frail looking she ought to be in hospital; surely someone should be stepping in and asking where designers hold responsibility for their models and the public? With the British Prime Minister's wife happily sat in the front row on the very same catwalk yet still no action? Worth noting Samantha Cameron is also the Ambassador of the British Fashion Council, the organisation the Department for Culture Media and Sports has tasked with looking after our models.  Yet none of them are willing to admit that the stick thin culture is damaging the industry and young teens.

We just hope designers start listening soon; before another model dies on the catwalk.

El Espacio reported today that Colombian Model Jeny Paola has died. The latino beauty is reported to have falled from the sixth floor building in Ibague. 

It is unclear at the moment whether or not it was suicide or a tragic accident, however, it appears that she was very upset and had told her cousin she wished to end her life. However, there is reports that she had slipped from the railings of the six floor; not jumped.  The local hospital worked on her for some two hours and it is believed that she did not regain conciseness during this time. 

The model is survived by her husband of 14-years and her 7-year-old daughter.

There is little doubt that British Fashion is very important both worldwide and to the UK economy. The next five days is about to prove what our industry is all about; with 65 full catwalk shows and 45 smaller sessions during 5 days of fashion!

The British Prime Minsters wife (and new ambassador for the British Fashion Council), Samantha Cameron hosted a VIP party for the London Fashion Week at No 10 Downing Street.  Early in the day Samantha had delivered a Cameron-ess speach on the importance of fashion to the UK;

"People often say that fashion is one of our most important creative industries," said Sam Cam, flying the flag-wearing Mulberry, Sykes and the high street accessories retailer, LK Bennett. "Actually, I think they're wrong - it's one of our most important industries, full-stop."

Corrie Nielsen, winner of Fashion Fringe 2010, a Saint Martain College graduate was the highlight of the first day; starting from the new kid on the block and ending with lashings of praise and promise. Lets hope the collections draw some investment and that her collections get chance of flourish.

Models draped over sporty vehicles isn't anything new! However, a combination like Nissan and Sports Illustrated was always going to produce something rather sexy! In their recent campaign the two have set the Nissan Juke and a Swimsuit Model in areas of acceleration, aerodynamics, agility and curb appeal.

Taylor Corley has not only had to give up her place on the Mississippi state cheerleading team, but reportedly also left school to pursue a career in modelling / reality television.  After posing in November's Playboy, the blonde stunner was asked to choose between her modelling career and the team:

"Me and my coaches decided that it was either Mississippi state cheerleading or my Playboy career," she told a Memphis radio station

"Pretty much the decision was made for me that I was no longer going to be cheering for them," she goes on to say.

Taylor then announced a short time after that she would also be leaving school to break into reality acting. She will be appearing on a new reality show called Girl Swag. The show which is predominantly being plugged on social networking sites, not only has a very small budget but seems to be borrowing a lot of its credability from the model herself.

The main concern is not that the show may not run for a few seasons, nor that her modelling work may not provide a steady income of work now, but especially in glamour and nude modelling; models generally (not always) have a very short shelf life. Hundreds of girls across the US have posed nude for the mens magazine, very few are still making money from it 5 years later.  With no qualifications or career prospects after the bubble bursts (which it will), Taylor will go on to prove how despite all the information and warnings - arrogance will only get you so far!

80's Male Model Leo Rabago has died, aged 48 years old from Colon Cancer.  The Model who had some great success during the 80's and 90's with his well toned and taned body. Having won many local competitions within Philippines, Leo had limited but still fruitful success on the international modeling network.

With the model work drying up during his thirties, Leo then went on to try acting, having appeared in a few movies such as  “Alipin ng Tukso,” “Kamay ni Eva,” “Campus Scandal,” “Hapdi ng Tag-init,” and a few others before vanishing from the public eye.

Tay Su Ann a promising Asian model has been fined $2,000 for bribing a property agent to take the rap for her driving offence.  On 22 January 2008, she ran a red light; rather than taking the punishment at the time, she decided to try an escape the punishment.

Although Tay could have faced 7 years in prison for her crime, she escaped using the excusion of depression at the time of the offense with a mere fine of just $2,000.  Whereas her accomplices of Kelvin Choo Yew Beng (sentenced 6 months) and Leung Man Kwan (sentenced 3 months).

It is understood that Tay is undergoing treatment for her condition with her psychiatrist reporting that she is doing well. 

Lets hope she gets on with her education and career; as a very promising young model she could do extremely well.

She famously told us all about starving herself down to a size 0 as a teenager, then insisted her confidence as a plus size 16 model. But was this merely a publicity stunt by the model to gain work and popularity by a public that craved a more diverse sized model on the catwalks?

Whatever the reason, the yoyo dieting, now seeing Crystal fall to a size 8, has received more criticism than the original concept of having a fuller figured model on the catwalk.  Is this simply because those writing articles are suffering from the same weight yo'yoing as Crystal, or is it just something else for the media to rip into.

Crystal has addressed the recent outcry, saying that she would have had to develop an over-eating disorder to live upto the size that she was as a plus size model;

“I feel pressure probably more than any place from the public and the media. I think by placing a title on my head — which is plus-size — and then the picture that these people have created in their mind about what plus-size actually is, I basically fail you just with that, because I couldn’t possibly live up to that.

“At this point in my life I would have to have another eating disorder to live up to that expectation. I had anorexia ultimately because someone else set the standard for me and I wanted to follow it. And if I followed what the public wanted from me or what the media wants from me I would be doing the same thing — I would have a binge eating disorder.”

Whatever the real reason behind it all, we hope that Crystal can feel comfortable in her own skin and hopefully maintain a steady weight; as regular weight gains and losses not only damages your imune system but can also bring the onset of many different cancers.

Previously known as Leandro Cerezo (son of Brazilian football legend Toninho Cerezo), completely took the limelight at the Sunday show at Sao Paulo Fashion week.  Critics applauded her show and she was mobbed by paparazzi upon leaving the show.

The model who was working the new collection from Alexandre Herchcovitch received a roaring response from te crowds. Her make was very pale and clothes a modern collection of blacks, greens and greys.

Although by no means the first time the model has been noticed; having worked during the last year across America and Europe; having just finished modeling for Givenchy and a magazine cover featuring the transexual model kissing Kate Moss.

Whilst she has faced ill treatment and abuse over her gender changing and sexual orientation, its nice to see a more diverse "A List carpet" within the catwalk model which bring a more enjoyable and interesting future for the industry.

Australian model Sophie Monk has today announced her engagement to French entrepreneur Jimmy Esebag.  Sophie 31, has for the last few years diversed from modelling into films; such as "Date Movie" and "Click".

Needless to say the she will leave many of her fans heart broken! In a radio interview with 2Day FM, Sophie tells listeners;

"I got engaged... He's a keeper,"

"It feels right," she added. "I think you know when you know."

Jimmy Esebag, 50, is the chairman of United Licensing Group, although not a household name the company owns the rights to the Playboy brand and various other household names.

And just two months later, unfortunately the happy couple seem to have split. Rumours of Jimmy Esebag returning to his ex-wife, what ever the reason we are sure there is a waiting line of eligible batchelors waiting for the chance to date the Australian beauty.

Police in the UK have warned of fake Facebook scams involving fake modelling agencies that are asking children as young as 12 years old to pose in underwear and email / sms photos to "assess" their ability in the model industry.

Leicestershire Police who are investigating the cases go on to say that the scam, using a number of social networks appears to involve a number of fake profiles, using agency logos and names to appear more genuine. 

The modelling agencies appear to be Leicester-based. The most recent used is the Pat Keeling Modelling Agency, a spokesman added.

Although there is no way to tell how many young people have been affected by this issue, it is quite clear that this is not an isolated case, with the Model Industry Union having dealt with over 100 cases of similar operation during the last twelve months.

This is yet another clear sign that we must have a public register established to protect not only children, but all wishing to enter into the model industry. 

Mother of the late French model Isabelle Caro has committed suicide in a further tragic twist to this families agony of the recent months.  Isabelle lost her fight against annorexia in November 2010.  Christian Caro, Isabelle's step-dad confirmed to press today that his wife took her own life because of the guilt she felt due to her daugthers death.

The family of Isabelle were in the middle of a legal complaint against the hospital that she was admitted to, and claim that Isabelle died "from the successive consequences of negligence by the medical staff at the Bichat Hospital".  Mr Caro goes on to say "She (Marie) felt guilty for having put my daughter in the Bichat Hospital. My daughter did not want to go to that hospital."

It would seem that whatever the reasons for for Isabelle's premature death, that given she was 13 years old when she developed the eating disorder, she had survived 15 years with the disease. In a further clear indication that often family issues are in the background of many eating disorders, Isabelle had commented in her memoir, "The Little Girl Who Didn't Want to Get Fat," that her mother contributed to her condition because she appeared to "resent" her growing up.

The 22-year-old daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore shows of her excellent ability and proves what good genetics can do for your career! The shoot for American label Badgley Mischka took place on a beech in Malibu, California and was for a new range of evenign dresses.

She later spoke about her experience;

"It was so amazing to play on the beach in beautiful and timeless gowns. I felt like a princess."

The designer Mark Badgley and James Mischka are very happy with the new face of their label and told People.com

"Rumer is a great muse for the season. She has a vivacious spirit to her; she is young and modern, which is representative of our spring collection."

Cambridge Student University Union Society will hold a indepth debate later this term concerning the place of adult modelling in todays society.

Johnny Anglais and the UK's first female adult producer; Anna Span will debate the motion that "pornography does a good public service". They shall debate the issue against ex-model/actress Shelley Lubben and child psychologist Richard Woolfson who will debate that infact adult modelling / pornography has a negative and damaging effect on society.

The Union has hosted some of the greatest debates within the UK, with speakers such as Winston Churchill and Ronald Reagan just some of the high-profile people that have been involved.  Although the debate is not any form of policy meeting, debates from the union are taken seriously across the political spectrum and of course, many of those sitting on these debates will themselves run for seats in the house of commons.

What is your opinion on the adult industry, with it becoming more accessible and more socially acceptable to many; it will remain a part of modern adult life for at least for foreseeable future.

Reports from contactmusic, that the 52-year-old singer is searching for a new teen model to help promote her "Material Girl" teenage clothing range. The current face of the brand is Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen, only 17 years old herself.

The gorgeous 'Black Swan' actress, who is the new face of French fashion giant Christian Dior, posed topless for its new "Miss Dior Cherie Perfume ad".

Tim Walker was the photographer on the campaign, which even for her first topless photoshoot; was an amazing tasteful image.  Not only has Natalie Portman created an amazing image for Dior, but also the 29-year-old has even managed to have the brand support some of her charitable causes.

20-year-old Danielle Sheehan won her busty E-cup figure after she entered a online auction and bid just £3.90!  The healthcare worker from Norwich has always wanted bigger boobs and finally got the chance for less than a pushup bra thanks to millibid.co.uk.

Danielle hopes the increased boob size will lead to more modelling work, going on to say  : "They are so much better than the ones God gave me.

French fashion model Isabelle Caro, is reported to passed away on 17th November 2010, aged just 28 years olds.  The Model whose wasted figure appeared within an Italian campaign aimed at bringing attention to the issues of anorexia within the fashion industry. 

The media world was only informed of her death today on 29th December 2010, with the family wishing the keep media away from the grieving process.

We can only hope that this further death will help to end the use of anorexic models within the fashion and catwalk industries.  Healthy models and social responsibility need to become more central within the industry, lets hope 2011 is the year people start taking this issue seriously.

How many more young models will die trying to be the 'ideal'.

Irelands most in-demand beauty Ruth Griffin is semi-retiring from her successful catwalk model to concentrate on being a full-time mother to her young son AJ, after her recent split Alan Quinlan.

Ruth goes on to say

"I'll still do bits and bobs when I want to. There are fabulous jobs out there and great clients and I'm really lucky through all my years modelling that I've had very loyal clients, who have booked me no matter what."

Ruth's decision to retire comes just 6-months after her split from Munster Star Alan, after just two years.  It also comes at the time where her figure is as good if not better than its ever been.  Ruth insists that her toned figure is a result of running after her energetic toddler;

" You're busy being a mum but toddlers don't sit down. My little fellow is a real handful; he's full on energy the whole time."

Ruth also revealed her toned figure is also down to hardcore Pilates.

"I do Pilates. I've a brilliant instructor who really helped me get my figure back actually, and then it's just eating sensibly."

Charles De Voe a US model, has died after a month long fight to wake him from a coma after a surfing accident.

The model who had been involved with campaigns for the likes of Dolce and Gabbana and Abercrombie & Fitch, was eventually cut free by divers after been trapped underwater when he became tangled in his surfing gear.  The lack of oxygen to his brain was such that he didnt regain consciousness.

Charles's parents were optimistic their son would pull through;

"They were encouraging. His brain swelling had gone down. His lungs and kidneys were responding. He was responding to them,"

Unfortunately he never did and passed away on Saturday 18th December.

Charles was signed to Major Model Management and quickly became a popular face, working with famous fashion photographers including Mario Testino, Bruce Weber and Steven Klein.

A funeral was held for Mr DeVoe on Saturday and his body was cremated.

36-year Kate Moss is celebrating her 20th year in the professional modelling industry and admits, that she really didn't think that she would still be modelling as long as she has.

She goes on to tell Company Magazine;

‘I did my first photo shoot at 16 and I thought that was it! I just really enjoy creating images and working with creative people. I love the whole process.

‘So, for as long as I enjoy it, I'll still do it. And as long as I'm still getting booked.’

Kate goes on to say that she may look at opening a Next Top Model style training academy to train the young hopefulls about what the model industry is like, going on to say that the industry can be "humiliating".

Given that Kate is still one of the highest paid models in the world, there really couldn't be much better teacher. 

The British Fashion Council (BFC) is delighted to announce that Lee Alexander McQueen will receive a posthumous award at this year’s British Fashion Awards on Tuesday 7th December for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design. This special award celebrates the achievement of a designer whose work has had an exceptional impact on global fashion.

Four time winner of British Designer of the Year award, Lee Alexander McQueen received the award for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design in recognition for his extraordinary career. Revered globally for his fabulous tailoring, exciting, innovative and outrageous style on and off the runway, McQueen will be remembered as the most innovative and influential fashion designer of his generation.

To commemorate Lee’s life and celebrate this award the ceremony will open with a film featuring Lee’s most iconic pieces directed by Nick Knight, styled by Edward Enninful and soundtrack by Bjork. The film will feature iconic pieces from Lee's career from the Alexander McQueen archive.

Speaking about his inspiration for the film Nick Knight, commented, "This film is my way of speaking about a very unique and important person who changed my life. My desire was to speak in some way about the dark and the light contained within Lee, and within us all."

Born in London in 1969 Lee began his fashion career with an apprenticeship at the traditional Savile Row tailors Anderson and Shephard and then at neighboring Gieves and Hawkes. A few years later he completed a Masters degree in Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins. He showed his MA collection in 1992, which was famously bought in its entirety by Isabella Blow.

Alexander McQueen shows quickly became known for their emotional power and raw energy, as well as the romantic but determinedly contemporary nature of the collections. Integral to the McQueen culture is the juxtaposition between contrasting elements: fragility and strength, tradition and modernity, fluidity and severity. In less than 10 years McQueen became one of the most respected fashion designers in the world. In October 1996 he was appointed Chief Designer at the French Haute Couture House Givenchy where he worked until March of 2001.
In December 2000, 51% of Alexander McQueen was acquired by the Gucci Group, where he remained Creative Director until his death in February 2010. He is succeeded at his eponymous brand by his protege Sarah Burton with whom he had worked for 14 years.

Jonathan Akeroyd, Chief Executive of Alexander McQueen, commented, “We are honored to accept the BFC Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Award and that the British Fashion Council have recognised Lee's work and contribution to the British Fashion Industry."

Teenage model Martia Davies 19 was left in a wheelchair for almost a year after a terrible car crash left her with a broken back.  The young model was bed ridden for months and was left scarred from injuries.

It seemed as if her teenage dreams of being a professional model may be over, however, just three years after the accident Marita is now the running to win the Miss Great Britain title.

Marita said: 'I was devastated when I learned the full extent of my injuries. I thought my dream of becoming a model was over.

'My leg was completely crushed and my back was broken.

'I spent a month in hospital before I was allowed home - and then I had to spend the next eight months in a bed in my living room.

'Those eight months were a bit of a blur - the crash had shattered my confidence and I withdrew into myself.

'I did a few unpaid jobs while I was studying at college, and soon, paid commercial modelling jobs started coming in.

'I was a bit paranoid at first, because the crash has left me with huge scars on my leg and back.

'I've got scars all the way down my arm and leg where glass from the car windscreen was embedded in my skin, and I've also been left with a curved spine.

'I was worried people wouldn't want me to model for them - but it's not stopped me so far.'

Marita was crowned Miss Nottingham City this year, and is now competing against 59 other hopefuls to be crowned Miss Great Britain 2010.

Fugitive Playboy model Laurie Bembenek died today, aged 52.

Laurie was a model during the 70's, however, will be mostly remembered for the movie "Woman on Trial: the Lawrencia Bemenek Story".  Laurie murdered her then husbands ex-wife Chrstine Schultz in 1981.  Laurie escaped prison during the 90's with her incarcerated boyfriend and managed to evade cops for three months before being caught.

Laurie always maintained that she had been framed by the Milwaukee Police Department.

Bembenek was released in 2002 and although has not modelled since the 70's her playboy pictures still make excellent viewing. A gorgeous model who's life and career could have taken a much more prosperous path be it not for a few bad decisions.

Wang Bei a 24 year old model from Hubei province died today after a "bone-shaving" operation went wrong.  The doctor is thought to have made a mistake causing blood to flood her lungs; killing the young model from suffocation.

It is unclear why Wang decided she needed cosmetic surgery to make it within the entertainment industry, as she was naturally so pretty.  It is thought that failure to win at the Super Girl competitions and other competitions entered had dragged her confidence down.

Wang Bei was also a hopeful young singer having graduated in music studies and worked as a singer across many venues.

The death should make anyone considering cosmetic surgery realise the risks involved in any surgery and to consider fully whether or not the risk is appropriate to the need for the surgery.

Tom Ford, 49 was chosen by editor Carine Roitfeld to assist with the December and January issue.   Tom has chosen 15-year-old Daphne Groenveld, a stunning up and coming model to pose next to him. In the photo Daphne is made up like an early-80's Jerry Hall; dark smoky eye makeup and a deep red lipstick.

Although don't think this is the full concept within the feature, Tom has used a wide spectrum of models, with Lauren Hutton a former model and actress, now aged 62.  Lauren is shot wearing a white suit and one of Tom Ford designed hats. Roitfeld goes on to say that Tom Ford loves beautiful older women, gracefully ageing without plastic surgery:

"He loves beautiful wrinkles," the New York Daily News quoted Roitfeld as saying.

In an exclusive interview with Revolver magazine, Taylor claims that she didn't have a 'real life' as a child due to her pushy parents, who signed her up with Ford Models at just two year old.  Taylor goes on to say

'No two-year-old wants to be working, but I had no choice'.

The 17-year-old actress and model who looks stunning on the latest cover of the Revolver Magazine, brandishing two guns in her raciest shoot yet.  Taylor broke into being a household name at just 7, playing Cindy Lou Who is How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Taylor is one of a string of child stars that suffers significant issues due to their young success and high pressure lifestyles.  Whereas some stars deal with this pressure very well, we can't help but remember all those that have been destroyed by all the fame.

Taylor doesnt seem to be rebelling anymore than other teenagers, however, playing out in front of the cameras will always lead to national papers and news channels reporting on the shocking outfits and foul-mouthed attitude.  I'm sure there are many parents who will read the many articles about Taylor and find nothing more shocking than their own teenage girl is up to!

Newbie Australian Bikini Model Nicole King has baffles controversal supermodel Lara Bingle.  King has reported in an interview that she was inspired to take up bikini modelling by her "second cousin" Lara Bingle.

However, Lara took to the airwaves yesterday Thursday 12th November to completely deny the claim, going on to say;

"This is so bizarre. I do not, I don't have a cousin," she told co-host Kyle Sandilands. "This is just bizarre."

"I'd be so embarrassed to be lying, I have never even met her in my life, I don't know who she is."

Although even such a solid denial from the supermodel hasnt stopped Nicole King providing further information that her mother Jennifer King is a cousin of Lara's late father Graham.

"We are definitely related. My mum and Lara's dad were cousins," Nicole tells Confidential. "Of course we're related ... we both look great in a bikini."

Regardless if there is any genetic evidence, its true to say both of the models do look excellent in a bikini!

Victoria Buglioni aged 25 from Enfield North London, was left mentally and physically depressed and at times suicidal after a horrific attack at the hands of a rapist.  Even after the attacker was caught and identified Victoria had to relieve the entire attack again and again during a gruelling trial.

After counselling and extensive support from her friends and family, the 25-year has managed to put the ordeal in her part and is now about to star as a finalist in the Miss Great Britain competition, which is due to be televised for the first time this year in December.

Victoria won the title of Miss Cambridge in September and will be using her successes within the model and pageant circuits to help lift her confidence. Victoria goes on to tell the Advertiser: “It took away all of my confidence and I was all over the place, an absolute mess. It is the worst thing that can happen to anyone and I think the man who did it to me is evil.

“Just before the trial I took an overdose because I thought, ‘I can’t do this any more, I don’t want to be here’. But I went back to my dad’s house and recovered.

“In the end I just thought that I had to go through with the trial because I wanted that man to be convicted. I didn’t want him to get away with it.

“The trial was horrific. It was so daunting going behind the screen, knowing he was on the other side. But the judge was really understanding throughout and he would let me take a break if things got too much.”

But when the defendant was found not guilty, Victoria was left devastated. “To me it seemed a clear-cut, black-and-white case and I can’t understand why we didn’t get a conviction,” she explained.

“I think if I couldn’t get a conviction with all of my evidence, what chance do other women have?”

The Model is hoping to use her profile to help bring awareness to others that face the same position.  “I don’t care about keeping my anonymity. I want to speak out and help as many people as I can to come forward.

“I was taken to the Haven in Paddington and they were absolutely amazing. Not many
people know about the wonderful work they do there – what a lovely organisation. Without them I wouldn’t be here today. I wouldn’t have managed to get through it all. They were so kind and caring and they believed everything I said.

“Earlier this year I started getting back to my old self. I moved in with my dad in Enfield and decided to enrol on a course at the London Metropolitan University.

“I went through a really hard time and lost absolutely everything. I had no confidence and couldn’t go out for a long time. I have since been able to regain my confidence, and with the help of counselling and the support of my family I have had the courage to get back to doing what I love most.

“I think I can be a great role model to other people who have been a victim of crime. I want to be able to help other women as well as the organisations that helped me.

“At the Miss GB finals, Haven is my chosen charity and I hope to make people more aware of it. I am living proof that after such a horrific ordeal, with the right support and outlook on life, you can recover, you just need to be strong.”

A South Indian Model and actress has accused her agent of molestation and deluding her with false hopes and promises to make a financial gain.  Ritu Sachdeva has filed a complaint with Versova Police Station against her Agent Flynn Remedios for taking Rs4 lakh.

According to the complaint, Flynn had promised her a range of roles and assignments on television, film and modelling, as well as a chance to star in her own record, in exchange for an upfront fee.

"Remedios had said that he had many contacts in the film industry and could get me to enter the reality show Bigg Boss. I was convinced and gave him the money to get me the assignments he promised.

Versova then took a further Rs. 50,000 from me saying that his mother was unwell. When I asked him to return the money, he refused," Sachdeva said.

"After asking repeatedly for the money, he gave me a cheque. But it bounced and I decided to lodge a complaint against him," said Sachdeva.

The actress filed the complaint a day after a cheque of Rs. 50,000 had bounced following insufficient funds.  The complaint also states that Flynn had molested her and asked her to 'compromise' with him. "I was harassed financially and mentally.

He has been messaging and calling me during nights for the past two months, asking me to have a relationship with him."

Flynn, on the other hand, admitted that he liked Sachdeva, but said he had never molested or duped her. "I haven't done anything of the sort. I do like her. I took Rs. 3 lakh from her for the release of her album. But that amount was insufficient to release the album," he said, adding, "Upset that her album hasn't released, she is accusing me of these things."

Aspiring model Nicholas Hammam-Howe has accused America's Next Top Model judge Nolé Marin of sexual harrassment.

It is reported that Marin who actually got Hammam-Howe into modelling originally and from the start is sounds as if he may have gone over the line of what is considered both normal or professional conduct. According to a reports received from New York Daily News, its alleged that Marin lured the model to his apartment in 2007.  From this very first encounter it is alleged that he made sexual remarks and promised to make him a star in exchange for sex.

In one of the alleged incident, the model went to Marin's apartment having been told to meet a professional photo crew and reps from Armani, instead only Marin was there. Its alleged that Marin reached into Hamman-Howe's underwear saying:  "You want to be a superstar?  You can be a superstar."

Its reported that these incidents are further supported by repeated text messages which will make part of the legal case. Neither side have released an official statement, although there will be little surprise should the ruling be made in Hammam-Howe's favour, as its not unfamilar for Hollywood executives to be abusing their power and position for sexual gratification.

Police have today concluded that the 28-year-old FHM model Sasitorn Onwimon, committed suicide by taking an overdose of sleeping tablets and then shooting herself on October 11th 2010.

Deputy national police chief General Panupong Singhara na Ayutthaya told the press that the onsite forensic evidence had proved that she has shot herself as only her fingerprints and DNA were found on the weapon and that blood splatter and gun residue all pointed at nobody else being present in the room.

Although no details of a suicide note have been released, it is thought that the reason for the suicide was from stress the model was going through with both romantic and financial stresses and ongoing work issues.

Priyanshi Chowdhury was found dead in her apartment in Jogeshwai (Mumbai), although first told on Thursday it was likely to be another suicide we have learned today that the local police are dealing with the death as murder.

They have arrested Priyanshi's boyfriend; Sahil Malik (also a Mumbai model), after Priyanshi's mother had lodged a complaint that he would constantly harrass her daughter.  The boyfriend has been remanded in custody until 4th November whilst other enquiries are underway. It is understood that Shyamli Jain (Malik's ex-partner) has also been called in for questioning.

The police are also attempting to contact other friends of the model who have not as of yet been available for questioning.  Shivam the friend in question had spent several hours with the couple at Priyanshi's apartment, a few hours after leaving Malik had informed the model had hanged herself with a nylon rope.

The police went on to comment

 "We are not sure whether Shivam had any role in the crime or not. We can reach a conclusion only after his questioning,"

With in excess of 20 models in eastern countries having hanged themselves during the last twelve months, it is possible that the two attempted to cover up the murder; thinking nobody would question another models hanging.

19-year-old Rebecca Battino is reportedly suing Apple fo $1 million of damager due to raunchy photos of her appeared on iTunes Store application. The New York model claims that someone copied the pictures from her home PC and used then in an application called eXtreme Cam Girls.

Rebecca goes on to tell New York Post

"I was just upset that I'm not being paid for my pictures,"  

"I'm not embarrassed."

Neither the Apple or the software designers Samba Studios have made any public comment about the case which was filed at Manhattan Federal Court last week.

Following suggestions made to our team via the Institute of Modeling suggestion system; the organisation has launched a search to find five people within the model industry to sit on our review board.

The purpose of the review board will be to meet every 3 months (12 weeks), to review a random selection of case files, with the intention of:

•    Ensuring Standardisation across all investigations
•    Review equal opportunities records for period
•    Producing guidance notes for non-compliant members to ensure full compliances.
•    Reviewing concerns / complaints received about the organisation
•    Review legislation proposals


The review board will be rotated on an annual basis whereby others may apply to sit on the board.  Should any of those within the board have a complaint made against themselves, they agree to sit-down during the period for quality assurance purposes.

Each board member shall be paid £25 per meeting.   These meetings shall last approximately 4 hours and shall be held at a venue within the Midlands area.

Notes from the meetings shall be made available for public reading within 6 weeks of the meeting.

Police in India have cracked a fake model agent ring involving Satosh Balasaheb Burud (27) of Balajinagar, Dhankwadi, was arrested with his accomplice Vijay Arjun Jadhar (23) of Khadki. Women who had been scammed had taken collective complaints against the pair to the Pune police station where the details of the fraud had become apparent:

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Prabhakar Patil said Burud called himself "Karan Deshmukh", claiming to be the nephew of Vilasrao Deshmukh (another scam). He would approach young girls and give his Silver Stone Entertainment business cards, a firm the pair had claimed was involved in modelling, events/shows and promotional work.

Many of the girls gave the pair huge amounts of money, in some cases years of savings; expecting a break in the modelling industry. Burud asked the young girls to pay registration fee of Rs 500 for becoming a volunteer and Rs 3,000.

The Crime Branch team comprising inspector Ram Pathare, S-I D N Survase, constables Sunil Pawar, Yogesh Jagtap, Chandrakant Phadtare, Narendra Parkhi, Satish Nagul, Kaveri Damse, Rajendra Marne, Santosh Kshrisagar, Sambhaji Bhagat, Narayan Phartade laid a trap and nabbed the suspects in the early hours of Friday.

“ We appeal to women to contact the crime branch at 020 26208241,” said inspector Pathare.

Taxi driver Phillip Brindle and his deceased wife Victoria Brindle have been found guity on two counts of rape and six counts of indecent assault.  The crimes that are believed to have taken place whilst the couple lived in Wigan, Greater Manchester between 1985-2000.

Mr Brindle posed as a photographer who had contacts to get models signed to various labels and could kick start their model career. The court heard how the couple drugged and assulted girls often who were completely unaware and oblivious to the attack. However, the Institute of Modeling has heard from two other ladies in their thirties who have claimed to have been attacked/indecently assulted by the couple without the use of any drugs.

Given the fear many of the women had, we expect now the indiviudal has been sentenced that more women that were attacked will come forward and give their stories. We would urge anyone that has had contact, no matter how insignificant get in touch with Detective Inspector Stuart Ellis on 08452 777 444.

Tregony police discovered films and photos in a storage facility used by Mr Brindle. The films showed a variety of degrading actions and assults and even Mr Brindle checking the girls eyes to make sure they had passed out.  The police have managed to trace five of the women from the footage discovered in the lockup; but know there are more girls still to come forward.

Kannan Siva, prosecutor, said: "He systematically sexually abused some very young women, predominantly teenagers.

"He had no interest in developing portfolios for these young women, not to their knowledge anyway.

"He would film them when they were drugged, stupefied and in obvious oblivion."

Judge Mark Brown, described him as an arch manipulator and "sexual predator".

"In my judgment, Phillip Brindle has demonstrated that he is a very dangerous man and I identify relationships with women, distorted thinking, lack of victim empathy, the desire to control and manipulate and sexual deviancy as key-risk areas."

"Brindle's victims have been living with this ordeal for the past 15 years and we should commend their bravery and courage in coming forward and bringing Brindle to justice."

Fashion Group International, formed in 1945 by some of the most pioneering women of fashion, including Elizabeth Arden, Julia Coburn, Eleanor Roosevelt, Helena Rubinstein, Lilly Dache, Edith Head, Mary Brooks Picken, Claire McCardell and Tobé Coller Davis celebrated its 75th birthday.

The group, now 5,000 strong is made up of those working in fashion industry including apparel, accessories, beauty and home ware. Its aims and mission are the same today as they were 75 years ago. They are still without doubtthe pre-eminent authority on the business of fashion and design and they still help all their members become more effective in their careers.

Their 75th birthday party is not much like any other 75th party birthday party you would see; hosted by stylist Laurie Brucker, the night was filled with amazing hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, and fabulous fashion. The evening ended with a performance from award-winning R&B recording artist Faith Evans.

The event was attended by many big names within the fashion, film, modelling and music scenes.  Proving that the group still have the same control over the industry it always has had.

MHCC Fiji Fashion Week at the Totoka Pacific Wearable Art show prouduced one of the most memorable and stunning collections of breast cancer awareness bras ever produced.

Fiji Cancer Society president Nirmala Nambiar said:

"FJFW is doing it for charity and since there were wearable entries, we thought it would also help set the platform for next year and give a boost to the morale of this year's entrants.

"I strongly believe that this is an effective way of creating awareness on the bra art competition and breast cancer in Fiji," she said.

"This was the first time for the society to work in collaboration with the FJFW to create awareness on breast cancer."

There are a number of activities organised by the society this year and this was one aimed at raising the level of awareness.

"Awareness is critical to everyone's life to be able to look after yourself," she said.

"Cancer does not discriminate so everyone needs to know."

The Jennifer Trust are funding an excellent new concept in Fashion Shows; once which will make use of disabled models on its runway and backstage.

The event which will take place in Notting Hill on Monday 25th will be hosted by Jonathan Phang and Tess Daly.  Tess was born with spinal muscular atrophy; but proves that sexy and disabled is more than just the name of the show.

Tess who is only 22-years-old is one of the key people helping to make a real difference in people's opinions and views of what has been a very taboo subject for years.

"I'm determined to continue to pave the way for more disabled people to put themselves forward for a career in modelling," she explained.

Shelly Vella, the fashion director at Cosmopolitan called the show a "great idea" and went onto express her hopes that it becomes the norm for high street retailers to embrace disabled models. 

Having seen "Whats the Problem?" around a year ago, all I could say about Kerry Katona would be; an awful lot!  The girl that once featured on most UK lads walls had turned into a mess; drug abuse, drink abuse, mental health issues, embarrassing appearances to name just a bit.

However, seeing her take to the catwalk strutting her new tighter figure in a glam mini-dress we were all impressed, not at least because she looked much healthy in herself but she has regained a much more 30-year-old look.

 Lauren Rawlinson, told Click Liverpool: ‘Kerry Katona’s not exactly someone you’d associate with being particularly fashionable so it was a surprise to see her there.

‘But she proved everyone wrong and looked sensational on the catwalk. She’s clearly worked hard to lose weight and shape up and she looked great.’

We just hope this is not a short-lived change for Kerry and that she will continue looking after herself.  Gorgeous job Kerry!

During the 2005 front page scandals across the News of the World many claimed this would be the final straw for Kate Moss and the end of her career.  However, as Sarah Doukas reported today, this scandal actually increased her profits by double.

Speaking to Kirsty Young on Radio 4, Sarah goes on to say

"All press is good press in this world we live in," said Doukas, who has managed Moss at the Storm modelling agency since she spotted the Croydon teenager at JFK airport in 1987.

When asked if Kate’s fee had actually risen after the scandal Doukas said: "It didn't go down, it didn't go down."

In the immediate aftermath of the scandal Moss kept a hold on her deals with Christian Dior and Rimmel, and won back two contracts with Burberry and Chanel just a year after the incident.

"I just thought she will be fine," said Doukas. "They said 'we are in your capable hands, we will stick by her' - and they did."

Kate then went on to pick up extra contracts with Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein and Virgin Mobile and has also made a reported £3m from her design partnership with Topshop.

Mary Gage the winner of the 1957 Miss Maryland pageant and winner of the 1957 Miss USA contest (although only for a day after officials stripped her of the title due to being married).  The lovely 18 year old who had been married for four years at this point and although was without doubt the most eligible contestant.

Directly after losing the title Mary was featured on many shows such as the Ed Sullivan show, although her fame was short lived and the years following 1958 were plagued with sadness, overdoses, attempted suicides.

One may wonder where Mary and her family would have been today should the title not have been lost. 

Dutch designer Anouk Wipprecht has developed probably the most crazy outfits this year; a dress that actually paints itself whilst you wear it.

The dress that is set to probably never be worn by a normal person is a perfect mix of technology and fashion (perhaps a little too much so), its concept is good; but at such early stages of development does look a little odd.  Pseudomorph works by having a neck piece with pneumatic valves and a system that allows ink to flow through the fabric is stunning as a catwalk pieces.

The Pseudomorph dress has two parts. The bodice is a white dress made of thick felt, while the neck brace is the electronic accessory made from repurposed medical equipment, says Fashioning Tech. The two are linked together so when the ink trickles down the dress, it creates a unique pattern.

The 21-year-old daughter of Yasmin Le Bon, seems to be following in her mothers footsteps, being the face of Pantene and being one of the most talked about names during the London Fashion Week. Although according to Amber, modelling is not something she has always had such as passion for;

“Growing up I was never particularly passionate about modelling,” she tells Day and Night.

Despite not having a young ambition to follow in her mums footsteps, she has certainly managed it, clearly being one of the country's top new comers, having taken to the catwalk for Mark Fast, Giles Deacon and Topshop during London Fashion Week.

Amber goes on to tell Day & Night  “I’m really enjoying myself. In a way I think it was the best way to start out because I didn’t have any expectations or high hopes for myself. Everything has come as a nice surprise.”

As a 16 year-old model the world of catwalk modelling is frightening enough when your fronting one of the largest brands in the world, in front of some of the biggest stars and celebrities. However, when you get put into a pair of crazy platform heels and asked to do the same job; something is going to go wrong!

Thats exactly what happened when Nina Porter, one of the most promising young faces at London Face Week took to the stage on Tuesday evening for the Burberry Prorsum show. The fall which did manage to retain smiles echoed the famous Maomi Campbell tumble during the Vivienne Westwood show in 94.

Nina didn't look comfortable in the heels and given the over-all feel of the show we wouldn't be surprised if this was the first time the beauty had walked in the pair of heels she was wearing. Having said that the show was fun and with veterans of the industry such as Lily Donaldson and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley at hand the show came together very well and was entertaining.

Following the recent ignorance shown by Julien Macdonalds criticism against perfectly healthy and capable models, we are launching a campaign to "Get Macdonald off our Screens".  The welsh designer is so ground into the naughties image of stick thin size zero that he has voted a size-8 model off the show because "she needs to lose a little weight".

How a size 8 model can be too curvy only Julien knows. However, we believe this sort of comment is not only damaging the industry by putting size 8, 10, 12 models off entering the industry, but also causing massive health issues for those that are trying to slim down to please the likes of Julien Macdonald.

Latest victim of Julien's taste tells the Sun Newspaper;

"He should have thought about the broader picture and thought, there's going to be so many young girls watching this that already think they need to be a size zero to become a model - which isn't the case.

"To have me on there, a healthy girl with a healthy figure and have him say that was not very clever.

"Everyone is trying to do the whole ban size zero thing and bring in healthy models I think he should have picked his words more wisely."

She added: "I've always been a healthy weight as far as your BMI goes.

"I've never had an issue with my weight and I've always been confident in the way I look. I've always been athletic but slim."

This is not the first time we have had to publish comments from Macdonald, who is either so stupid that he cant stop himself or actually trying to cause illness in young people. Which ever of these is the case, we are asking Living TV to ensure his contract is revoked at the end of this season or we shall have no choice but to campaign against the show across as many media's as required.

Its a time for change, stop forcing our girls to become sick to please designers like Macdonald.

The long awaited day is eventually upon us, the London Fashion Week 2010 is here; spring/summer 2011 collections are now on show and although many of the same faces are filling the stages, there are also some amazing shows to catch.

London based designer Bora Aksu a veteran of the London Fashion week produced the best and most exciting show of the day, with an amazing ant inspired collection. The clothes and concepts were busy yet with a very palatable colour choice of greys and red. Ruffles, bows and draping swarmed cinched waists and exaggerated busts, the overall effect was feminine and even pretty.

Unlike some of the creations we see at these events, this collection could be seen on the red-carpet to a trendy event on anyone of the stylish followers of Aksu. We hope the rest of the week will provide the same quality and standard of today.

Anna Maria Mirdita has been the first contestant to be voted off this years Next Top Model, because of her petite frame.  Host Tyra Banks said " "you are a gorgeous, beautiful girl but the judges are concerned about the message your body type might send to young girls."

Anna insists that she is naturally a skinny girl, going on to say  "I've always eating junk food and am naturally skinny. I have already gained 10 pounds since I finished the show. I do not have an eating disorder and am very happy with the way I look."

Unfortunately another example of how the media decide to discrimate against body types rather than looking at educating those they are producing programs for. This token eviction was removed to give the show the appearance that they are doing their "bit" for educating young models; unfortunately all they have done is stereotype and isolate a group of people.

We hope that in future, rather than potentially ruining the career of a hopeful young model, that producers will take steps to have the model assessed correctly by a specialist to determine whether there are any underlying issues. Doing this type of feature within the show would bring much more awareness of the issues surrounding eating disorders without the discrimination.

With one of the largest spreads across the world, the Institute of Modeling at its associates are at most fashion shows and major model shows. New York fashion week has always provided an excellent show, typical American glitz and over the top glam is some extremes.

However, the show everyone has been talking about this year was the OneStopPlus show today, a real mile stone in the diversity of the industry.  Not only was the show put on with extreme professionalism, but the models and costumes were gorgeous and a real example of how plus sized women can be just as sexy as their thinner counterparts.

One of the models Emme, couldn’t have agreed more: “You have to join forces to make a statement and to be part of a revolution. It’s monumental in its reach,” Emme told PEOPLE MAGAZINE, adding, “I think the big statement that’s going to be made with this fashion show is not only going to be made within the full-figured community but I think it’s going to talk to the bottom line of design houses, designers, and business people involved in fashion,”

Lets hope that London Fashion Week can bring as much diversity to the shows.

The new scam to hit the model industry is one that perhaps is more personal and not as easy to spot; “model schools”. Most young girls and a fair number of young guys dream of becoming the next supermodel; for most this is a dream they are willing to invest in.  

Model academies / schools will offer a range of enticing promises; ensure that you do your homework before signing up to these;

Tutors
If you are receiving any form of training, the person teaching should have some form of qualification in teaching. This is usually displayed at their place or work, office, studio etc.  Do not feel afraid to ask for details of their qualifications; it takes more than just experience to pass on knowledge.

Course contents
Many ex-models and ex-agents with little income from their model industry careers turn to tuition to make money.  Simply teaching what you know is not enough and simply creates a lot of ‘mini-me’ style models. If you are attending model tuitions ensure that there is a recognised course structure; ideally with an awarding body or independent body behind to course (e.g. City & Guilds).

Past students
If you are considering one of the many model schools, ask to speak to prior students/models and ask their opinions (try to ensure the ex-student is not involved with the school / centre). You want to ask;
•    When they undertook the courses / tuitions
•    How many they did
•    Did they find it useful?
•    Did they get everything they were promised

If the “school” has only been established for a few months; leave well alone – most scam centres go out of business very quickly.

False hope
The route most tuition days go about getting new bookings is promising castings, big brands using images etc. Again make sure you do your homework;

•    Promise of work  - ask who with, how much, when the casting is
•    Chance to be featured in mainstream “lads mags” – make sure this is genuine. Many of these organisations will submit your photos to features such as “Real Girls” and “Bedroom Babes” that are public open features that anyone can submit pictures to and will not do your career any good.
•    Newspapers at events – call the newspaper if you are concerned if this is true or not, usually this is a photographer who works for a newspaper as a self employed freelance (meaning they may use the pictures; but only if there is nothing better to include in the paper).
•    Links to unknown competition, pageants or companies.  Offers quite often fall through at the last minute; do your research and make sure the offers are genuine before you are tempted.

In summary, although model tutorial days are very helpful, they should include a structure, be more than just having a group of pictures taken by amateur photographers and most importantly give you something out of them!

If all you believe you will get out of the tutorial is some photos for your portfolio; then you would be better suited to working with a photographer on a portfolio shoot.

Playboy Model Tiffany Livingston, 21 suffers a panic attack at 10,000ft and tries opening plane door.  The model was detained when the pane landed but after offering her full co-operation with local authorities was later released.

Kathleen Longsderff, Agency Director at Miss Livingston’s former modelling agency told CBS News: “[She] has dealt with minor anxiety issues in the past, however has always maintained a high level of professionalism in the modelling business.”

A source close to Miss Livingston told the New York Post: “She said she’s gone through this before, but never this bad, and didn’t have ... her medication”.

The model industry has lost another one of its golden generation, Penny Healey-Hutchinson who passed away September 1st at Penlee Care Home in Somerset.

Unlike so many models, Penny always kept a lived her life with great dignity and grace.  Unlike models of today who dream of the glitz and glam of working for media giants, Penny started her modelling days simply learning how to walk correctly with faultless posture and pose; modelling clothes for well know personalities and their friends. Penny modelled for the likes of Princess Marie Louise (the Queens sister).

After her modelling days she went on to open one the the countries first modelling schools, based in Knightsbridge; passing on her skills and expertise to new generations of models.

David Penny husband goes on to give us a wonderful insight into her life:

"She just loved life and if she could she would enjoy having fun.

"We travelled all over Europe many times and we went all over America, on 14 different occasions from one end to the other.

"Penny would love to walk on the beach at Naples in Florida to find sharks' teeth and other items to bring back as mementos.

"She would enjoy eating out at wonderful restaurants.

"Penny was liked by everyone she met."

Homegrown British beauty Kelly Brook has been snapped up by the high profile One Management modelling agency. Kelly who has recently split for Rugby star Danny Cipriani is said to be utterly over the moon about joining the agency.

The source said: "She’s off to New York for Fashion Week in a few days and she hopes to make a real impression. Who knows where it will lead? It’s very exciting."

Legend Alexander McQueen will be remembered at a public service at St Paul's Cathedral on the 20th September 2010.

The service is being held so that the international model community has chance to pay tribute to the tragic designer who committed suicide in February. The service is expected to be at full capacity with at least 2,500 people expected to turn up for the service.

The contents/detail of the service or speakers have not yet been released; although we expect to see stars such as Lady GaGa attend the event.

No details of the form of the Memorial Service or of the speakers is available at this point in time.

Two of the members from N-Dubz (Frazer and Dappy) are designing a range of T-Shirts, accessories and trousers for the men range Nanawear. Whilst Tulisa will be designing a range of womenswear under the label TFB.

Frazer goes on to tell the Sun Newspaper

"Everybody who knows us can tell we like to look a certain way.

‘These are going to be well tailored though, they aren’t going to be cheap looking.

‘Everyone always talks about Tulisa’s style too.  She’ll buy a dress for £15, then when she wears it on the red carpet, everyone thinks it’s designer."

Lets hope the group have more success than many of their fellow singers who have released labels that have crashed and made significant losses.

The gorgeous voluptuous singer has confirmed she will be using her friends and real sizes for her fashion line at this years New York Fashion Week.

"Instead of using super-skinny models to showcase her designs, Jessica has decided to send her best friends, real women down the aisle," said a source close to the singer.

Simpson who has herself had ongoing issues about her weight and had some extremely unkind comments in press across the world has recently gained a new found confidence in her figure after her show The Price of Beauty. In the show Jessica travelled across the world observing how the standards of beauty alter across the world.

Most women at 59 are under increasing pressure to cover up their bodies, that is except presenter Selina Scott, who has been offered a lucrative modelling contract with Playtex Bras.

"At first, I thought it was a bit of a joke, then I felt flattered," she tells Mandrake. "The lingerie business is very competitive, with beautiful women like Kelly Brook, so it's terrific to know I am still considered in that league."

A spokesman for Playtex goes on to say: "We are introducing a new line and are certain she would really connect with the market we are targeting."

Scott is more has previous model experience; having modelled for Country Casual - but is usually swamped in a sweater on her farm in Yorkshire.

We haven't heard as of yet, whether Scott is likely to accept the contract, but certainly hope so; the industry is in need of more diversity. 

The massively successful partnership between supermodel Kate Moss and highstreet chain Topshop will draw to a close this autumn, after one of the most successful three-year design partnerships.  Both Kate and retail tycoon Philip Green have earnt millions through the lucrative partnership that created one of the all-time most succesful high street coalitions.

Although there are rumors of spat between the two parties, Green told a Sunday newspaper;

"It has been fantastic for us and fantastic for her, but they take more and more time and she cannot do this full-time any more because she has other commitments." A source close to Moss reportedly said the relationship had come to a "natural conclusion".

Whatever the reason for the seperation, we do hope Kate continues to design collections as good as the new autumn and winter range which will be her final collection for topshop and due to be released on October 14th.

IMG Fashion Week organisers settled a potentially disrupting labour row Friday, agreeing to the conditions from the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and its 2,200 local members.  The dispute related to a threat to picket the Fashion week event if the workers from the union were not included in the glitzy spectacle.

Fashion designers and models from around the world use the twice-yearly event to show off their latest collections.

Corrine Day the excellent "grunge" photographer whose photo of teenage Kate Moss inaugurated the new era of realism in fashion died at her home in Buckinghamshire yesterday (Fri 27th August).

Susan Babchick informs us that the cause was a cancerous brain tumor.

Corrine built her reputation on a realism honest, refusing to use the same airbrushing and photoshop tactics of her counterparts, and the honest truth of her pictures remained more intriguing for this.

“Photography is getting as close as you can to real life,” she said, “showing us things we don’t normally see. These are people’s most intimate moments, and sometimes intimacy is sad.”

Her love for photography, was not well matched to the fashion industry, “I think fashion magazines are horrible,” she said in an interview with the The Observer in 1995. “They’re stale and they say the same thing year in and year out.”

Corrine's art will hopefully remind us all how beautifully gritty real life is and how untouched beauty can produce the most gorgeous image. Our thoughts go out to Corrine's friends and family. 

Paul Smith who built his fashion empire, business and reputation mainly upon his menswear collection is due to launch a store dedicated to womenswear.  The shop is situated within the prestigious Claridges Hotel.

In keeping with the famous hotel, the store will mirror an Art Deco style, with vertically striped pink walls, tiered tabels, glass chandeliers etc. You can expect an excellent selection of catwalk pieces, accessories shows and bags galore! 

Get ready, Paul Smith, situated on 49 Brook Street will be gracing us with its presence mid-Septermber 2010.

Vivienne's creations will be on display at Selfridges permanent arts and exhibitions space, the Ultralounge, from Thursday through Sept. 22. Nearly 200 shoes from the icon will be displayed, showing her styles over the last four decades of styles and colours.

"Vivienne Westwood Shoes — an Exhibition 1973-2010," showcases pieces by her Vivienne Westwood's archive, including the iconic 1981 Pirate Boots, the nurse-inspired 15-centimetre heel Mary Janes and the impossibly high Super Elevated Gillie platform shoes from which Naomi Campbell famously took a catwalk tumble in 1993.

69-year-old fashion icon Westwood recalls one of her first shoe purchases in the 50's; stilettos which she wore to school and earned her a disapproving comment fromm her teacher; "'Vivienne, if God had intended us to walk on pins he would have given them to us.'"

Vivienne claims a highly manufactured approach to shoe design walks hand in hand with evolution.

"I'm not one of those people who likes the 'no makeup' makeup look," she said. "I like artificial things and I think that's what we are. I think civilization is artificial. Otherwise we would be living in trees and it's wonderful walking in shoes."

Harry Potter superstar Emma Watson, proves why she is tha nations darling; finding time between her busy filming schedules and university degree to support a good cause.

Emma who is modelling for ethnic brand People Tree didn't just provide the 'face' of the brand, but took the time out of her schedule to fly to Bangladesh to visit the homes of the workers who make the collection.

Emma even got involved at the factory, helping workers with sewing and showing her down-to-earth attitude.

She said: 'I've been given a lot in my life and I have had so many fantastic opportunities. It's really important to me that I try and give something back.'

'Following my summer collection for People Tree I wanted to visit Bangladesh to see the difference Fair Trade makes.

'The contrast between the slums in Dhaka where the people who work in the garment factories live and Swallows (the Fair Trade community supported by People Tree) was all too apparent. '

'I still find it hard to convey what Fair Trade means to those producing our fashion -- it's just so impressive to see how the women have used Fair Trade clothing to escape poverty and empower themselves and their children. I was moved and inspired.'

We hope People Tree and the Fair Trade schemes continue to improve the living conditions of those working to produce the items and food we take for granted.  I am sure having 20 year old Emma helping them for a day at least let each of the workers know the rest of the world is listening.

According to her close friends and aids; Cheryl has refused point blank to pose naked in Playboy, despite the whopping £500,000 offer to pose for the centrefold completely starkers.

Betting shops around the world are putting the odds of Hefner increasing the offer to $1million, with the hope of making the deal more attractive to the Geordie stunner.

20-year-old Sunderland University student Laura Zielinski beat of 550 other competitors to be crowned the Spectacle Wearer of the Year (North England).  Laura will now fight the competition out with six other area winners across England for the England-wide title.

Laura goes onto say “I never thought wearing glasses would give me an opportunity to become a model but this competition is great and has given me so much more confidence.

“I really hope I make it through the next stage to represent England.”

The nationals will be hosted by style guru Gok Wan, in London, during November.

Rachel Bailey, 23 from Seaton Carew, Durham was jailed today for three years for her brutal glassing of model Cara Robinson. Cara you suffered scarring to her face, needing 30 stitches and plastic surgery is hoping to get back into modelling. Although she is managing to get some work, the extensive scarring to her face will make it near-on impossible for her to gain mainstream contracts.

Bailey, who attacked Cara in a attack at a bar in Hartlepool, denied wounding with intent, however, the Teeside crown court hearing the case found her guilty during the three day trial.  Judge Peter Fox goes on to say that she would have been caged for a longer period if it was not for her one year-old daugther.

Cara said: "I'm glad justice has been done. Maybe now she will endure some of the pain I have been through."

Lora Brisland, a graduate whose childhood was overshadowed by a crippling kidney condition has become a top model, after a kidney transplant from her mother. Her organs had become so crippled from the illness that they were only working at 7% of their full potential; butting Lora in real danger.

The illness left Lora feeling sluggish and sleeping for upto 16 hours a day.

'My default position would be in bed, I was wiped out for up to 16 hours a day, just lying in bed without the energy to sit up or do anything.'

However since her transplant from her mother in February, Lora's fortunes have been changing; having taken part in a range of shoots for Superdry and British Hairdressing awards.

She said: 'It was a really tough time when I was ill and I never dreamt of being given the opportunity to do modelling work.

It seems like a different life after the transplant. From the second I woke up it felt as though a cloud had been lifted. The transplant literally totally turned my life around.'

Lora is signed to Gingersnap agency and is taking part fashion and catalogue working paying £200-£300 per day.  Lorna who is hoping to move to London and gain a full-time job goes on to say:

'I'm fortunate enough to be interested in the academic side of life as well,' added Lora.

'So while modelling is a really important part of my life, it is not the be all and end all.

Frank Ryan died in a car accident, aged just 50 years old.  It is claimed that the legendry surgeon was texting / twittering prior to being involved in the fatal crash.

"As we all know, [Frank] was larger than life," said Janice Dickinson. "He was the Bentley of plastic surgeons. He fixed people, but from the inside out. He loved women, he loved people."

Plastic surgery veteran Melissa Rivers, 42, also came to pay tribute to her late doctor and friend. "He didn't care who you were or where you were in your career – he was kind," she said. "He handed me a card many, many years ago at the Golden Globes, and he was there with Gary Busey. It was kind of odd, but kind of cute. Janice [Dickinson] was always trying to get me to date him."

She told TV Biz: "It's silly not to have a back-up. It's important because you could be left with nothing if you pin all your hopes on becoming a successful model."

Lily opens the London Gatwick Fashion Week today by unveiling the winner of the London Gatwick Runway Models.  Tessa Maye and David Searle beat of thousands of aspiring models from across the country to win the competition.

Both models have picked up prestigious contracts with Storm Model Agency.

The event which is raising money for Great Ormond Street is showcasing the Gatwick retailers top fashion and accessories handpicked by Kirsty Drury (stylist to the stars).

As well as watching the models passengers wanting some top beach tips can get free style tips from Kirsty’s team and stylists who are on hand to demonstrate how to achieve the top styles.

Brands such as MAC, GHD and No7 are also at hand to provide that finishing touch with many free ultimate makeovers for free.
The event which has been organised by Gatwick Events has been an exciting event to watch throughout the competition stages and we are sure the Week will be just as fun for all those passengers using the airport this week.

You may think that airbrushing is a modern phenomenon, its not!  Photos have been manipulated since the 1860’s, with the first recorded as Abraham Lincoln being edited to add the body of John Calhoun  (A U.S. Senator).  Historically this was achieved by retouching with paints, inks, exposure techniques or piecing negatives together in a darkroom before producing the image. Airbrushes were also used during the 50’s (hence the term airbrushing).

The reasons for doing this type of alteration, has always been the improvement of our own image. Unfortunately, even the most stunning model does have blemishes at some points, be it natural skin blemishes, a heavy night before the shoot, illness and colds.    Since the early part of the 80’s and introduction of computers like Quantel running items like Paintbox and Barco this type of editing has become more advanced. Since Adobes photoshop was introduced in 1988 these advances have become not only more life-like but more accessible to anyone wanting to edit photos.

Recent critics of the methods believe it gives young impressionable girls an unreachable goal of skin quality, shape, eye colour, whiteness of smile, even nipple colour!  Although we would agree that a models shape or size should not be altered to create a skinnier model, the ‘perfection’ look will always be strived for.  

In fact little of this trend has to do with the photographers and more about the brands that demand unblemished images – because they want perfection for their brand.  Is a spotty teen really going to sell more bottles of zit-cream;  unlikely.  

As we had previously suggested to ASA, a system whereby people can tell if an image has been retouched would allow for a safer attitude to the methods and also boost the industry.  Retouching is an artform and the editor should be able to sign their work in the same method.  A simple mark on the image may be the way forward, allowing every media to show an image with viewers aware if amendments have happened.

The Institute of Modeling is releasing a paper on the quality guides of retouching and editing to its photographer members. This document will be free to download from 1 September 2010.

The decisions by London Central Employment Tribunal follow investigations by the EAS, which is part of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS).

Ifran Khan of Islington, London, ran Platinum Models and was banned for seven years whilst Michael Brown of Malaga, Spain, ran Target Models and was banned for five years. Mr Khan operated Platinum Models from an address in Canary Wharf.  Target Models traded in the Holborn area of London. Both judgements are effective from 1 August 2010.

The Tribunal heard how Platinum Models breached the law by:

    * charging fees to models before any work-finding services were provided;
    * repeated failures to provide the EAS investigators with the information they requested and obstructing the investigators in the exercise of their enforcement powers;
    * not operating a client account as required by the relevant regulations; and
    * issuing terms of employment to models that did not comply with the relevant regulations.

The Tribunal also heard how Target Models breached the law by:

    * deducting commission fees from payments due to models and charging a commission fee to hirers booking models;
    * holding payments to models for longer than 10 days;
    * failing to provide records that showed they recorded details of job requests from the hirer, records of booking details from the hirer, a copy of the terms issued to the hirer, or copies of applications from models;
    * paying money received on behalf of models into the business account rather than the client account; and
    * only issuing very basic terms of employment to models that did not comply with the relevant regulations.

EAS brought these cases under the Employment Agencies Act 1973.  New regulations that protect workers come into force on 1 October 2010, which tighten the restrictions on the charging of up-front fees in the entertainment and modelling sectors.

Edward Davey, the Minister responsible for employment relations, said:

“Unfortunately there is a history of exploitation in some parts of the modelling sector by unscrupulous agencies but these verdicts should act as a warning signal to them.

“We will take action against rogue recruiters in London, and across the country, who flout the law and undermine the vast majority of agencies who play fairly.”

1) The Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) made an application to prohibit Ifran Khan and Michael Brown under Section 3A of the Employment Agencies Act 1973.

Liam Fowkes from Birmingham posed as a Model Agent from California in a bid to get girls as young as 14 to strip on webcams. Often these strips turned into lewd requests of sexual acts. 

Fowkes was brought to our attention days after the police originally arrested Fowkes for luring a 15 year old girl from Essex to strip on cam. He had been involved in similar requests under the ID of a female model agent, seeking young models.

Today (29th July), Liam Fowkes was handed a 14 months sentence in a young offenders institute and made to sign the sex offenders register which he shall remain on for 10 years.  We are pleased by the sentence handed down by Zeidman QC, giving a clear message that this type of crime will not be tolerated.

The stunning Australian Miranda Kerr is expecting her first child with Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando Bloom. 

Having recently returned from their honeymoon, the 27-year-old Victoria's Secret Model has confirmed to friends that she is expected.  A friend of the model goes on to say; "She's telling all her friends, mostly other models, about it.". 

Although nobody has received official annoucements from the couple, it seems very unlikely they will be able to hide the news much longer;

"She poses in lingerie. It will be obvious soon enough."

Kerr has never hidden her desire to become a mother;

"I have always been very open about wanting to be a mother one day," she recently told an newspaper. "And I've always thought Orlando would be a great dad!"

Most wanted face of 2009, Lara Stone is in progress of putting together a legal suit against French Playboy for publishing photos taken by photographer Greg Lotus in their June 2010 edition of the popular magazine.

Lara goes on to say; "It's not the kind of publication I would ever choose to appear in. Playboy had no right to publish these unauthorised photographs. I feel I have no option but to take steps to protect my reputation."

This case could set a standard for other models.  We continue to stress to both models and photographers to ensure that Model Releases are signed and that the use is stipulated within the contract.

Retinoblastoma is a rare type of eye cancer which mainly affects children under 5 years of age. Spotting one of the signs or symptoms of retinoblastoma can be a scary thought for any parent or relative, but finding out about what to do next can help to ensure any symptoms are checked out quickly and the child can receive any treatment they may need.

Retinoblastoma is very rare; only about 50 children are diagnosed with the condition each year in Great Britain. It is also very treatable, especially if caught early. Around 98% of children are successfully treated.

The signs of retinoblastoma which are described below can also be caused by other less severe conditions and can sometimes be due to the angle of the light when a photograph is taken.

The signs to look out for

A white reflex: A white reflexion can be seen in a photograph where the flash has been used. Often one eye will have "red eye" which is normal but the other eye may look white, yellow or orange. This may be seen in just one or many photographs of the child.


A white reflex may also be seen when the child is in artificial light or a darkish room. Some parents say that it looks like a cat's eye caught in light or that they think they can see the back of their child's eye, other parents say it looks like jelly. This white reflex may only be seen every so often but in some cases it is present all the time.

An absence of "red eye" in flash photographs: In a photograph where one eye has "red eye" (which is normal) the other eye may look black or looks "wrong". This can also be a sign that something is not right.

A squint: A squint can be a sign of retinoblastoma, although a squint can also be nothing more than a squint. It is always worth having it checked out quickly just to make sure. Some people call a squint a "lazy eye"; it is where one or both eyes look in or out.

Deterioration in vision: A child may have deterioration in their vision or they may have had poor vision from birth. You may notice that the child does not focus or fix & follow as well as other children or babies of the same age.

Red, sore or swollen eye: A child's eye may become very red and enflamed for no reason. This sign is usually linked with other signs.

A change in colour to the iris: The iris, the coloured part of the eye, can sometimes change colour, sometimes only in one area.


If the child is aged five or younger and you have noticed one or more of the signs above always take them to have their eyes examined.

The most important thing to do if you see any of these symptoms is to get advise the childs parent or guardian to get the child's eyes examined. It is very important to do this quickly just in case the child needs to start treatment.

Never one that you could accuse of being shy or retiring, its perhaps no surprise that at 55 the veteran supermodel has just completed a shoot wearing nothing but a pair of feels.  Although helped along with "some" surgery, Janice is still stunning, looking better than some of the models half her age.

At 5'11" the supermodel and mother of two still boards only a size six frame, but does go on to tell Closer magazine of the hard work and committment that goes along with the surgeons knife.

'I have to make sure I exercise and that the ingredients that go into my body are completely organic.

'I relax, meditate and do 80 minutes of yoga every day. I hike and make sure everything I eat is organic. I eat steamed fish, chicken and turkey, plus salads, carrot juice and supplements.'

Janice goes on to tell Closer magazine: 'I love my body, but it's a compulsive obsession.

Lorraine Pascale a hugely successful 90’s model; who was the first ever British black woman to grace the cover to American Elle as well as having worked with Versace and Dorran Karan.  Being a very ‘down to earth’ model, Lorraine realised that her modelling career would not last forever and trained as a chef and came on to become a master baker.

 ‘My fashion background does influence my baking. I wanted to make sure my cakes were easily identifiable, so the design is very different. I also go for seasonal colours, what’s going on with the fashions – like fashion cupcakes with bags and heels on them. Cupcakes are quite retro, and my shop is too. Cupcakes are about comfort, a taste of home cooking, childhood and cosiness.’

As always we encourage all models to gain additional skills whilst working, although the occasion model may enjoy full careers, many will not and just have additional skills to “fall back on”.

A young aspiring model from Merseyside has missed out on her dreams of competing within the Miss England finals, after taking part in a topless photo shoot.

The young model was on her way to taking the national title after winning the Miss Every Model award.  However, her joy at this and the progression to the Miss England finals were short lived when someone tipped off the organisers that she had broken the rules and posed topless just days before the competition without informing the organisers.

Siobhan has now been stripped of the Miss Every Model title and has also been disqualified from competing within the Miss England contest.

Ruth Deane, editor of Every Model Magazine, said: “Every effort is taken to ensure all applicants comply with the rules of entry to Miss England.

“There is no discrimination in respect of modelling genres within our publication.

“However rules are rules and a contestant cannot attend the final of the Miss England competition if they have broken one.

“The decision made is clearly in line with the rules, but still difficult to implement. I am protective and supportive of all my contestants and want the best for all of them.

“I believe that the outcome not only does this, but best outlines the importance of honesty and integrity along with highlighting the necessity of complying with rules and regulations.”

Kelly Soo Park, 44 was charged with the murder of Juliana Redding a aspiring fashion model and actress.  It is thought that the model was murdered as part of some form of revenge because of a failed business deal.

Juliana Redding’s father Greg Redding was involved in a business deal with Dr Uwaydah a physical who was convicted of defrauding a medical company in 2005.  Prosecutors in the case claimed that the money for the killing came from Park’s employer (Dr Uwaydah).

Juliana died from a blunt force trauma, although police have not released any further details regarding the method of attacked.

Juliana landed a role in a small 2005 movie and was featured in a photo layout in Maxim magazine, winning one of the magazine's "Hometown Hottie" contests.

Police said there could be more arrests in the case.

A promising young model Jo Minto, had all be given up on her life long dream of becoming a model after she was struck in the face by a pint glass.

Having been blinded in one eye and her face having heavy scarring; the prospect of getting back into the industry looked unlikely. Jo received 35 facial stitches and the doctors took four days to remove all the glass from her face. “I couldn’t look in the mirror for ages” Jo says, having accidentally catching her reflection some days after; she burst into tears.  Fearing she would be “like a scarred monster for the rest of her life”.

"I thought it was all over, I thought that was that, done" she said. "And I began focusing on my IT career"

Today, thanks to the excellent plastic surgeons that worked on Jo the says after the attack, the only physical reminder is a small lump of scar tissue on her forehead.

Her sight stabilised and injuries healed, she has revived her dream and sought a return to the limelight

"I thought 'stuff it, give it another go and get back into it'," Jo how now been signed up with several agencies and is starting to win some excellent contracts. "The work has been flooding in," she said "It has given me a real confidence boost to see that people want to work with me again and everything has spiralled from there,"

She is also leading an internet poll to win a photoshoot with popular lads' magazine Nuts.

We truly hope that Jo’s career continues to grow and wish her all the very best for a prosperous career.

A young girl who suffers from a rare syndrome called Holts Oram (causes defect in hands and heart), has spoke of her joy after reaching the finals of a nationwide modelling competition.

Frankie Raye, from Cirencester, Gloucestershire is hugely excited “I am really happy, this is the big one!!”
Frankie’s positive outlook is almost infectious “No matter what you are, you can always achieve your dreams”  Frankie and her extended family make up over 10% of the suffers Holts Oram worldwide; a painful and sometimes disabling  illness.  Since moving to Kinghill School, Frankie’s parents have been a massive improvement in her confidence.

We think Frankie has a very promising outlook; as well as getting through to the finals of the Miss Cyberface, Frankie is also about to take a starring role in ‘Hairspay’ and has just been signed by a top talent agency.

Viveka Babaji, known to many as the “Karma Sutra Girl” was found dead on Friday 25th June, hanging from the ceiling fan in her apartment in Mumbai.  Although many in the Indian media seem to think there is something more suspicious; it is thought Viveka has been suffering depression since her split with long term boyfriends.

Viveka, who was just 37 will probably be best remembered for her role as the “Karma Sutra Condom girl” from the 90’s.  Now in her late thirties, Viveka was reporting to have had a problem of recent months with depression, one friend goes on to say;

"way over what she used to. She once lost her cool during the rehearsal of an event recently. She shouted at people, asking, 'Do you have any idea what I'm going through?'”

As we have said to medical experts, government ministers and industry experts; mental health in all performing arts is something that needs to be closely monitored. By the very nature of the ability that helps performers to perform; also makes them a greater risk of depression and suicidal tendencies.

Tom Nicon, 22 from France was found dead after falling four floors from an apartment in Milan City Centre.

Although the death is been treated as a suicide, Italian police are investigating.

It is believed that Tom had been having relationship issues and recently broken up with his girlfriend. The police told sources at the Mail newspaper;

"We have spoken to the friends he was staying with and they have told us that he had recently broken up with his girlfriend and was depressed,"

Donatella Versace is one of many that have already spoken out in support of this young supermode;

"He had already done three of four shows with us and he was a sweet boy, We just can't understand why he did what he did — we would never have thought he would do something like this."

Teenage model hopeful Stacey Courage has been left with over 60 cuts to the face and torso, after being forced off the road by a dangerous driver.  The 17-year old who is worried about being scarred for life goes on to say;

"My bike went head-first into barbed wire and the car just drove off, left me.

"The driver has ruined my face. And my life. I wanted to take up modelling."

Although the scars do pose a very real risk of scarring with the modern plastic surgery techniques its more than likely the long-term effects will not pose any long-term effect on Stacey's ability to model.

Lloyd Eugene Bailey is on trial at Nova Scotia Court on three charges of sexual assault with a weapon. The crime is alleged to have happened in December 2008 at a hotel in Halifax.

The court was told that the evidence to be presented will quite clearly show  "quite simply will show evil in its truest face,". Mark Heerema prosecuting believes he has a very strong case against the accused with 25 witnesses being called over the trial which is expected to take 10 days.

"The evidence in this case is shocking," he says.

Bailey first met the 19-year-old when she was working in a pizza shop. Bailey then over a period befriended the alleged victim and told the teen he was involved with a scuba shop, who were looking for swimwear models. He is alleged to have tempted the model further with offers of pay in excess of $1,000.

It is alleged that the Bailey tied the models hands together because she was finding it difficult to hold a pose. After threatening to kill her the defendant he is accused of sexually assulting the woman with a cucumber.

The woman was able to escape when hotel management, alerted by other guests, began knocking on the door.

Evidence to be presented in the case include photos of the ligature marks on the models neck and burst blood vessels.

Macdonald a judge on TV show “Britains Next Top Model” spoke out today against the recent increase in plus size models, branding plus size models “a joke”. In an interview Macdonald goes on to say about the reality show;

‘This is a serious show. A Catwalk model is a size six to eight. You can’t have a plus size girl winning – it makes it a joke.’

Yet again demonstrating the idiocies of people that think they can make sweeping statements.  Macdonalds Debenhams range goes upto a size 18, I wonder how many dresses he will sell if he marked every dress of his over a size 8 “you’re a joke”.

Macdonald who was honoured by the Queen with an OBE in 2006 demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of the industry.  This industry is changing, if dinosaurs like Macdonald can’t accept this then perhaps there is no room in the industry for him.

The list of support for curvier models is endless and whilst supermodels like Cystal Renn are strutting their stuff this industry will change. It is an evolving industry, one which will focus more on health and well-being than making it easier for designers that are incapable of cutting designs to fall well of curves, these designers should stick at designing menswear.

British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman urged designers last year to increase the sizes to prevent the models being hired with ‘jutting bones and no breasts or hips’.

Macdonald goes on further: 'It’s not fair on them – you’re setting them up for a fall – I know what would happen to them afterwards,' he said.

I’m sure Tyra Banks would disagree with this, having just crowned a size 16 model as the winner of the previous series of America’s next top model.

Was nice to see Sophie Anderton back doing what she does best, working the catwalk with an amazing beauty.

Sophie was at the De Montfort University Contour Fashion Show at Freemason's Hall in London. Showcasing some of the works from the Leicester Universities Fashion and Design department, we are all hoping this is the start of Sophie getting back into more mainstream fashionshows.

The 33-year old beauty posed in a futuristic costume, showing that she hasn't lost any of ability of fitness; out shining models ten years younger.

The three finalists were announced at a glitzy event at the Ivy in London;

Corrie Nielsen, a former Saint Martins student

The chairman of the Fringe John Galliano is one of the most respected geniuses of the fashion world; having being the creative director of Christian Dior for the past decade and having his own label.

The Fashion Fringe party, at the Ivy, attracted some of the biggest stars, including Kate Moss, Daphne Guinness, designers Gareth Pugh and Erdem, Milliner Stephen Jones, the chairman of the British Fashion Council, Harold Tillman, Amanda Harlech the ex-Galliano ‘muse’ and now ‘style-angel’ for Karl Lagerfeld.

We always look forward to the finals and to see whether the winner has the potential to follow on from previous winner Erdem Moralioglu.

The winner will be announced following the presentation of the three finalists’ collections at a catwalk show during London Fashion Week in September.

London Gatwick Fashion Week

London Gatwick Fashion Week will take place in Gatwick’s North terminal on 5th – 8th August 2010.  Showcasing this summer’s hottest trends, the model winners will make their fashion debut along with a host of other model beauties and international supermodel Lily Cole.   London Gatwick Fashion Week is a celebration of the fantastic retail offering at the airport, with a whole host of top high street and designers such as Ted Baker, Mango and All Saints, all offering up to 30 per cent off high street prices.

Hollyoaks stunner Jennifer Metcalfe shows off her well toned figure on holiday in Marbella, Spain as she tries out the new style of bikini.

Although probably not the best swimsuit to wear, if you’re trying to get a tan-line free cover, but as Jennifer shows is a stunning look.  With the design being fresh off the catwalk expect to pay in the region of £400 - £600 for a mono-kinis, from any main designer.

As many singers, Beyoncé has produced and designed her own fashion range.  The R&B superstar has just launched her gorgeous collection for C&A called Dereon.

With a figure as gorgeous as her own, who would she choose to model her collection? We’re glad to say; she chose herself!

Unfortunately, as C&A closed its UK stores, you won’t be able to pick them up through any retail shops in the U.K. for the moment.

31-year-old Linzi Stoppard stripped naked to advertise magnificent violins created by Swarovski.  Each violin is graced with some 50,000+ crystals and carry price tags in the region of £1 million.

'These violins are incredible, just stunning – the light explodes off the Swarovski crystals,' says Linzi.

Linzi, who is represented by London Model Agent; Models1 doesn’t get outshone by these stunning instruments; showing that even after 10 years in the model game; she is still capable of producing stunning poses with just a violin covering her.

A few years ago, the site would have been incomprehensible; half naked models opening for one of the high societies most prominent days.  However, as more diverse crowds have been attracted to the show, so have the organisers had to re-think opening acts.

This years opening show was one not to miss, as an army of gorgeous models paraded for the camera ahead of the opening day.   Our favourite highlight was a pair of Australian bikini models in the spa.

However, there were several different acts; all stunning!

The Queen also appeared to enjoy the show, touring the Australian garden. Although she was not commenting on any of the acts during the day.

Chelsea Flower show has never been in our diaries for fashion of models, but will be looking forward to see if there are any further spectacular shows next year.

Gisele, has been named again as the worlds top earning model. Earning a staggering £17 million, however, given her amazing ability and look – we can all understand why.

The 29-year Brazilian topped the Forbes list; with Heidi Klum, 36-years old, coming in second at £11m and our own home grown beauty Kate Moss coming in third, with a reported income of £6m.

Many are playing the fact that these three models were last years top three earnings down to the recession and that industries were ‘playing it safe’ with existing contacts; rather than trying new talent.

However, these are three of the very best models in the world, anyone that has had the privilege of seeing them working will agree their dedication and ability are second to none and reason enough for their success.

Kelly is stunning as she models the new bridal range from Ultimo.  Kelly, posing in a sexy satin and lace range would be every red-blooded males ideal bride to be.

Kelly who has been dating her current boyfriend for around two years, looked amazing in the collection, and even if there are no wedding bells on the horizon; at least her partner has an idea of the present awaiting him on their wedding night!

Kelly said the collection was 'beautiful' and added: 'If you get the foundation right, everything else will just fall into place.'

Kelly became the face of Ultimo in March, as well as recently also becoming the face of SpecSavers.

Fresh supermodel Noemie Lenoir, famous for her campaigns with Gap and Victorias Secret was found unconscious on Sunday after an apparent suicide attempt.

The attempt is thought to have resulted from a painful breakup with her ex partner, soccer star Claude Makele.  Noemie was very fortunate that she was found by a man walking his dog in a forest just outside of Paris.

According to the Daily Mail, friends of the model say she was “in a state of great distress and clearly very ill. She had clearly attempted to harm herself and fallen unconscious.”

Lenoir is currently in an English hospital recovering from the incident.

The American supermodel is the global winner of FHM Magazines Sexiest women in the world poll – voted for by more than million votes.

She gains the title from last years winner Megan Fox (another American model). Marisa has numerous covers and contracts under her belt and is the face of major brands such as Harley-Davidson and Victoria’s Secret.

The 31-year old who has been modelling for the past 15 years shows no sign of giving up and although she hasn’t reached household name status that some of her contemporaries; we are sure this new award will help with this.

Colin Kennedy, editor, say: 'Marisa Miller has the kind of sun-kissed sex appeal that wows men all over the world.'

But Marisa, is unlikely to let this award get to her,  she has previously said: 'I get a kick out of it, but it would be stupid to let it go to my head. It’s modelling - I didn’t find the cure for cancer.'

The U.K. poll was topped by singer Cheryl Cole.

Rootstein, a British Company and one of the largest producers of mannequins in the world in unveiling its “Young and Restless” collection, which is reported to include a male mannequin with a 35 inch chest and 27inch waist.  This is 11 inches small than the average Male in the UK, and an unacceptable ‘ideal’ for anyone over 16 to work towards.

The company insist that the mannequins were modelled on teenage boys; however, with these mannequins being used to model adult sizes of popular tailoring made fashionable by the likes of Russell Brand, we feel it is yet another irresponsible move by a company without any thought to the consequences.

We at the Institute of Modeling are having more reports of eating disorders involving young men between the ages of 18-22; being caused by more of the unrealistic aims retail and fashion are putting on young people.

Kevin Arpino, creative director at the firm was responsible for the designs of the mannequins, requests that these could increase any eating disorders.

"It is a collection dictated by current fashion trends for skinny jeans and very tight tailoring, as seen everywhere from Topman to Gucci and in the edgier fashion magazines like Numéro.
"None of the boys we used were remotely anorexic. They were just teenagers – the oldest one was 20, I think – so they were pubescent really.
"It's a trend which you can see in celebrities and rock stars – Russell Brand has a little bit to do with it. But I am sure that muscle boys will have their time again."

Given the NHS statistics suggest an average male waist as being 38 inches, surely having a fashionable aim, regardless of trend being nearly a foot skinnier is unacceptable.

During a recent poll undertaken by the Institute of Modeling, only 12% of women interviewed preferred featherweight male models, with a massive 41% preferring the 32-34 inch male model.   

Newspapers across the world have been quite harsh to Naomi Campbell for the past few years, perhaps for her battling with paparazzi or the general arrogance demonstrated by her during various contact with the media.

Naomi who was told Oprah Winfrey this week that she didn’t want to make any excuses for her bad behaviour could help herself, making pleas to explain why she keeps losing it!

“It comes from a deeper place than that with me. It comes from another type of emotional disorder because it's not just if I don't get what I want I throw a fit... It comes from, I think, an abandonment issue ... if I feel a mistrust, then... all my cards go down,” she goes on to say during the interview.  

The Institute of Modeling never, agrees with any violent acts (regardless of who carries them out), however, we can’t help but agree Naomi has issues.  Surely the newspapers would agree it is not normal to assault your assistant with a mobile phone, or try and attack two police officers.  

We have already touched on the mental health issues caused by the industry and equally the people with issues that are attracted to it. We hope if Naomi really believes her actions are caused by some deep seated issues, that she gets counselling for them soon!

The 42-year-old actress turn part-time model was reportedly very excited at being asked to work with the glamorous brand.  She is at the stage in her life that she feels confident in herself and look.

"The whole idea of modelling in my 40s seems grown-up and elegant," she goes on to say "There's an amusement about it that I probably wouldn't have had if I had done it when I was younger, because there's a kind of confidence in who I am today."

Julia has been a fan of the brand for many years.  She goes on to say she is a huge fan of kohl, explaining some of her younger dream;

"I love eyeliner. I always think if I put on enough, I'll turn into Sophia Loren!" she explained to InStyle magazine. "But it never did happen."

We think it very exciting that we are seeing more 40 plus models working with large brands.  Julia is as gorgeous today as in the Pretty Woman 20 years ago! Testament to her ability to age gracefully whilst still being a scorcher!

Stephanie Carta the model whom has strutted for Vogue, walked for Givenchy’s Couture and is well known as Balenciaga’s favourite model. However, she recently made it back to where she started out, sporting New Zealand designers.

Her first modelling contract was for Sabatini White in 2003 at New Zealand Fashion Week; and she has just sported the designer’s knitwear at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.

Carta began her debut as her mother was born in Auckland, she has now been reunited with what she started; the designs that she remembered as ‘cute and comfortable’. However the latest collection has been described as hot and sexy.

The collection was called the Three faces of Eve; it was based on the film from 1957 which follows the same name. All inspired by the main character, Eve and her three different personalities.

Styling the models in their figure clenching dresses was the blogger and Vogue editor, Romy Frydman. “What I loved about the collection was the different use of knits in one garment and different textiles. It's so beautifully put together that I didn't want to take anything away from that,” said the stylist whom kept it simple to compliment gorgeous ruffles and lace cardigans.

Sabatini was started in New Zealand fifty years ago, the brand is now the best selling label in David Jones, Australian Department store. “A lot of brands come and go, we have a bit of history, and people want to know why we're still here. They're interested in our longevity”, said Margi Milich.

With an end to such a difficult year in the fashion industry; the Australian Fashion Week sports one of the most extensive years that they have had so far. With prestigious men such as, Eric Wright tipping up to the catwalk the shows were certainly set to impress.

Eric Wright worked with Karl Lagerfeld for twenty three years, also working alongside Chloe, Trussardi, Roberto Cavalli, Fendi, and France's Faconnable which up until recent occasions, her was creative director.

Wright was actually attending former 80’s Supermodel, Gail Elliott as she unveiled her designs at her Little Joe Women Show. “I am really impressed with her work, especially the attention to detail and quality of finishes for the garment,” Eric believed. “Not all models make great fashion designers, but Gail always had a creative sensibility and it is showing through in her clothes.”

Gail will be using fellow models to help promote her gorgeous maxi dresses, Kaftans, denim jumpsuits and traditionally short shorts. Helena Christensen, Yasmin Le Bon and Cindy Crawford glamorously strutted down the runways supporting oversized jewellery, voluptuous hair and sunglasses.

Alex Perry has also had a good week; with one of the biggest shows Sydney had experienced. His team of 300 models, publicists’ stylists and hairdressers helped to bring the Arabian Princess themed-show to light.

Perry believed that is was ‘time to celebrate the good times’; with the show estimated to have cost him a whooping $200,000. The 130-metre catwalk almost guaranteed the 1300 Sydney VIPs their front row seats and a fantastic evening.

With Perry’s classic look of big hair, plenty of cleavage provided an eclectic atmosphere for the socialite guests. Zimmerman also had a successful show.

The student studying musical theatre at Hull College successfully rocked at the three day, alternative fashion event in London; taking centre stage Kitty showcased in 15 shows in the three days.

“I loved doing Alternative Fashion Week. There is nothing more exhilarating than walking down the runway, with 50 photographers snapping away and everyone looking at you”, the 21 year old commented. “I wore everything from Lady Gaga-inspired PVC catsuits to see-through blouses.”

Kitty Griffiths was sporting 70 designers, all newly anticipating the reactions to their eclectic designs. She has recently been signed to Rouge Maidens; the agency for alternative models and so far, she has modeled at regional finals of the L'Oreal Colour Trophy Awards and celebrity photographer Rankin, for his ‘ordinary people’ project.

“I am a total exhibitionist, and I was not bothered what they put me in,” she believed. “At the start of each day they would line the models up and the designers would pick you if they liked you. Your body was scrutinized, but I am comfortable with my body.”

She is also greatly awaiting the catwalk she is launching in Hull in September; photographer Chris Oaten will be helping her with the initiation. With local Opera singers, designers tattoo artists and a variety of performers attending; the show has set high hopes.

Hundreds of potential models from all over Ireland all made their way over too Belfast for the excellent opportunity to become the next face of high street chain, DV8. The brand launched its competition five weeks ago, in the hope to find a gorgeous male and female between sixteen and thirty.

The shop that has 26 shops in Northern Ireland and Scotland; saw the arrivals of their aspiring beauties at 7.30am all with intentions of impressing model agent Alison Campbell; celebrity hairdresser Paul Stafford and one of Ireland’s best known photographers, Khara Pringle: the judges.

400 models attended the event in which Alison described as the “equivalent of X Factor for Northern Ireland models”. She went on to say, “We had so many great and diverse looks, it was very difficult to whittle it down to 10 females and 10 males for the next round”.

The competition has been known to establish supermodels; Carrie-Anne Burton went to the competition in 2008 and has gone on to work with Chanel and John Rocha. With models such as Erin O’Connor, Elizabeth Hurley and Jerry Hall; who are signed to Tess Management with the twenty year old.
“When someone walks in here we know whether they are what we are looking for. Having a personality really helps, but ultimately we are looking for someone who can carry the cool brand of DV8. They have to have that edge,” Stafford commented. “After whittling it down to the next stage we will get up close and personal with the contestants.”

Charity Event organised by The New Hampshire Food Bank; saw many extraordinary designs as models walked out in an array of colour, complete with parrots, castles and ships.  

The show named as Fantasy Hair Competition was certainly not an understatement; contestants were arriving from 9am and working solidly until 7pm on their prestigious creations.

The theme was ‘Ports of Call’ from all around the world and with a $7,000 prize up for grabs, they most definitely pulled out all their tricks. The participants were judged on their creativeness, over-all appearance and the model's presentation on stage.

All the models wooed the crowd, with attention to detail the world was brought to us; as each model walked on to the runway we would experience yet another culture and country with coral reefs and castles as props attached to the models.

As seeing larger models on the runways was a shock, it is slowly becoming much more common and accepted amongst the industry; but it isn’t all over yet, those in the fashion world will have recently noted another big change and that is, AGE.

Although it appears all around us is the encouragement to look young, to prevent yourself from looking and feeling aged, it appears that fashion stylists are finally using older women to model their clothes instead of skinny minis that are in their late teens and early twenties.

The audience at the Calvin Klein show indefinitely had a shock as a grey haired beauty walked the runway in an exquisite silver flowing dress. A supermodel of the nineties, Kristen McMenamy whom is in her forties stunned crowds, despite being over the average age of models.

The designer Francisco commented on the use of older models, he used them because they ‘represent the women who actually buy my clothes’.

But, it isn’t the first time that we have seen older models grace our catwalks; with supermodels including Linda Evangelista and Shalom Harlow appearing at The Dior 60th Anniversary. Elle Macpherson also made an appearance for Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton Autumn/ Winter 2010 show. However, Elle alongside Linda are promoting youth with their anti ageing creams and youthful appearances.

Joining the grey brigade is youthful Kelly Osbourne whom has dyed her hair grey to be slightly ironic. So will grey’s be let loose, or will it continue to be a gimmick similarly to Kelly?

It appears at the same Calvin Klein show, it was opened with sixteen year old model, Jac. So the question lies upon us, will society ever accept are natural aging bodies?

Lina Marulanda sadly fell from her balcony of her sixth floor apartment; in the Colombian capital. The Model and Television presenter died instantly on Thursday, authorities commented it could have possibly been suicide as she was in the middle of a divorce with her second husband.

Sheryl Wolfe the beautiful teenage girl had recently been crowned Miss Hawaii Teen United States; she collapsed whilst in class and was put in a coma, later dying of a stroke. Sheryl had no family history of strokes or heart disease.

Director of pediatric neurology at St. Luke's and Roosevelt hospitals, Steven Wolf believes that it is very rare for such a young girl to have a stroke, he went on to say; “Most likely, she had a blood vessel abnormality”.  “It could have been an aneurysm or an AVM, which is an abnormal collection of blood vessels that can bleed and put pressure on other blood vessels. Sometimes, a person with an AVM or aneurysm never even gets a headache. It can just blow” Wolf Commented.

It is reported that Wolfe was an organ donor and at least four people are set to receive her organs. Her father is of course distraught about the loss and comments that if he could, he would trade places.

“I would trade my life in a heartbeat,” Allen Wolfe said. “I should be the one there. She shouldn't be. My daughter, she'd light up everybody. People were down, she had the right thing to say to them as far as how to bring their spirits up.”

Sheryl was supposed to be entering Miss Hawaii Teen World competition next month, her pageant sisters are said to be paying tribute to her within the pageant. “She'll never be forgotten. She was such a wonderful girl who always made everyone smile,” Florence Villanueva who will be representing Wolfe had said; she will be wearing her swimsuit and gown. Another lady, Ashlyn Pierceall had said, “I'll miss her a lot. No regrets; Just live your life, because that's what Sheryl did.”

Model Mayhem also pays tribute to the loss of the gorgeous model, on her profile it reads: “Model Mayhem regrets to inform our community that we have been notified of this member’s passing. This page will remain open as a tribute and for members to express their thoughts and condolences. In Memoriam”.

24 Year old, Ambrose Olsen unexpectedly died today; his sudden death has created much confusion and shock amongst the models family, friends and those in the modelling industry.

Ambrose started modelling in 2002, achieving his first major job with Raquel Zimmermann for Hugo Boss in 2003. He was later requested by the famous photographer in New York; Steven Klein. The pair worked together for the D&G shoot in 2005.

Details regarding his death are yet to be released.

A Modelling Agency Boss walked free from the courts after being cleared of raping a teenage hopeful model.

The teenager was helping to promote Reilly’s Uber Girl Competition and ended up staying at his flat in Merchant City, Glasgow in March last year; it is reported she had planned to stay with another girl in a separate room from Reilly.

The model whom is now 19 believes that she remembers wearing a black dress and underwear before waking up naked. “My dress was on the floor. I was really, really worried and confused.” She went onto say that she was extremely confused and concerned as memories from the prior night were blurry.
Gerry McCulluch from STV Sports Centre had told the trial about her visiting his flat after the trial:  “She was confused, in a panic. She was crying in the house and I think I remember her beginning to cry in the car. ..Her mum was not going to be home and she would be going back to an empty house. I did not feel right about that. I offered to take her to the police station. At that point, she said: ‘OK, can you take me to the police?’”
Mr. Reilly, the Model and Others had attended a glamorous fashion launch on the 28th March before going to Reilly’s flat. He claimed he had fallen asleep on the bed, with the model whom he admitted finding attractive laying next to him when he woke.
The pair allegedly had consensual sex; although Reilly was in a long term relationship at the time.
The model believes that it has ruined her career and made her feel extremely vulnerable; “This has taken my drive to do anything. I am really uncomfortable around men. I had tried to put it behind me, but I was really timid and that is not the way to be in the spotlight.”
The Jury had given Mr. Reilly a Not Guilty Verdict; and left the court after a five day trial a cleared man. However, his behavior has highlighted a worrying trend of unprofessional agents using their status to at very to entice women into their private homes/accommodation.  At very least this individual should have been prosecuted for abuse of position; however, because of the lack of control and government legislation within this industry; it is open to abuse.

You may well know diversity in the fashion industry is currently a main topic; with more shapes and figures being used than ever before, our attention to ethnicity has been drawn.

Liu Wen, a Chinese model has recently featured in the Victoria’s Secret campaign and was their first Asian model to ever walk there runways. Estee Launders are also using Liu to become there face of new campaign; their first Asian Face.

One of Estee’s top competitors; Rimmel London have also caught on to the ethnicity diversity campaign and are using Solange Knowles and Alejandra Ramos Munoz to back their brand.

Also, the in the March issue of French Vogue, they had a black model on their cover the first time since 2002. Lancome have also followed trained, making YouTube Beauty Blogger, Michelle Phan their Official Video Make up Artist.

Although Peaches may have just waved goodbye to her lingerie modelling contract; it appears as though the Geldof’s are still seeing model work come there way, with little sister shining forward.

Pixie Geldof has been chosen to model for Henry Holland; a British designer whom has just created a new range for Debenhams. The stunning blonde will be showcasing items ranging from £5 to £60 which are anticipated to sell extremely well.

“I am delighted to be a part of the Designers at Debenhams portfolio and to be working alongside a brand of such heritage,” Pixie said.

The Mother of two hated her look, so she spent thousands to make herself look like Glamour Model; Jordan.

“One day I was standing in Boots waiting to pay and this woman barged into the queue. Another woman said, ‘Oi, that lad's before you.’ When I realised she meant me I was mortified.” Hollie Henderson had told us.

The single mother had always looked up to the Glamour model, as her boyish appearance had always let her down; making her lack confidence and become depressed. “When I'd had my second child I hated by appearance, I felt overweight and frumpy.”

Hollie explains how she went home in tears after the mishap in the high street store, “I went home and cried my eyes out. One of my friends came round and tried to cheer me up by saying: ‘I don't know why you feel rubbish. You look like Jordan.’”

She didn’t see the resemblance herself,  but still went on to strive to achieve what other saw, Jordan. First, she began dieting getting her size 14 frame down to a 10; she then went on to get a credit card so that she could have a breast enhancement and  upgrade her 32B boobs to a 32DD. Liposuction and a tummy tuck followed. Hollie had spent over £85,000 to look like Jordan.

“I felt amazing, and it spiralled from there. Every time Jordan dyed her hair, I would, or I'd get extensions.” She then increased her breasts again to a, 32FF; Hollie believes it made her feel sexier and more confident.

“Jordan then started dating Peter and was all over the magazines and newspapers. Because she was popular, I'd have girls coming up to me saying how much I looked like her, and everyone was nice to me. I'd dress in skimpy outfits and show off my boobs, just like she did, and I had a ball.”

Hollie who has two sons aged seven and 10; says that she even gained modelling work from her Glamour Model work and made her living out of being a Katie Price look-a-like.

Although she enjoyed being pampering, with regular appointments at the salon for her nails and spray tan; the attention from males it quickly halted after the two reality stars split in May.

“When Jordan and Peter split, the problems started. I'd have drinks thrown at me and be called a slag and a slut. It was a nightmare.”
 
The 32 year old said, “Until then, at least people respected her as a business-woman - and I did too - but now she's a bit of a joke. People started to roll their eyes at me like I was a bimbo, and call me names. Girls would sneer at me. It got to the stage where I hated going out. I felt embarrassed.”

Hollie has now ditched the Katie Price image:  getting rid of the hair extentions, stopping the spray tans and has spent over six thousand pound on a breast reduction; “I'm going for the understated look. I'm 32 and don't want to look like mutton dressed as lamb.”

Miss Henderson is now comfortable with the way she looks and her confident is still high, without having to impersonate a glamour model.

Just an average family, but aside from just genes and appearance that they share; it appears that all three have been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Rebecca, father Peter and sister, Stephanie Lange have all had thyroid’s removed and each have a small scar at the base of their necks.

Rebecca had to undergo radiation therapy back in October 2008, she had missed her first day at college so she could have a sonogram to check her thyroids were not changing.

Rebecca soon found out about the American Cancer Society’s event, Couture for Cancer through her sorority and was keen to help. In 2009, she became a runway model for the event, sporting a Jenny Packham dress. She is set to model again this year, wearing a Teri Jon gown.

“I loved it so much,” Rebecca said. “I love the live auction and themodeling. It still amazes me how this event is put on and how much money they can raise for the cause.”

Couture for Cancer features many of the renowned fashion designers from around the world, with last year’s event raising around $70,000; this year is anticipated to reach a new level with a New York Fashion Week trip up for grabs!

The lucky winner will receive four days and three nights, air fair and flights included; a chance to meet Toni Hacker and Katherine Kwei  and will be able to pick out a bag with each designer.

Gladly, there have been more donations from national fashion designers and retailers including, Hayden-Harnett, Isharya, Jessica Kagan Cushman, Juicy Couture and Pour La Victoire.

With reservations starting at $65, it is an event not to be missed!

Claudine Keane, the 27 year old mother of one seems to have landed herself and extremely sought modelling contract which has previously used Sarah Harding, Jade Jagger and Melinda Messenger.

Claudine, whom Models with Assets Model Agency in Dublin, luckily achieved the latest face of Ultimo, the beautiful lingerie retailer. It was reported that should we receive a six digit cheque for just one season of modelling; she will be replacing Jenni Falconer from GMTV, for the seductive ‘Adore Moi’ Collection.

It was originally planned that the model would work alongside Peaches Geldof; but since recent events Geldof was dropped. Ms Mone, the self made millionaire believes it was impossible to keep Peaches after the headlines.

Claudine is certainly a positive representative with a first class degree in Economics and Finance; she will be working alongside Kelly Brooke the current face and body of Ultimo. A replacement for Peaches is yet to be found.

The irish beauty is set to hit sights in the Spring/Summer collection of ‘Adore Moi’, which has a luxury feeling from the lace and a beautiful French Style. The ‘Adore Moi’ is exclusive to Debenhams.

With Designers Such as Jean Paul Gautier and Versace using her to campaign; Karen Elson the fiery red head certainly made her impact on the fashion industry with her gorgeous images and criticisms of the business of fashion.

Elson has also caught our eyes with musical idol, Jack White her husband. We have most defiantly seen an opening to Karen’s musical side; she provided backing vocals to ‘Last Time I Saw Her’ by Robert Plant. She has also created a duet with Cat Power the pair sang ‘I Love You (Me Either)’.

However, Karen is not the only to try her luck at the music industry; Naomi Campbell released her album, Babywomen in the mid-nineties although Q magazine completely dismissed it.

Karen has released her single, ‘The Ghost Who Walks’ from her fourth coming album.

The Wolves football club are up against Stoke City today, but aside from the usual football warm-ups; the footballers took to the runways in an aim to raise money for Everyman Cancer Charity.
“It was a great night, the modelling took us all out of our comfort zone but I thought we did really well,” said Keogh, a footballer and attempted model. “It was really enjoyable and hopefully we raised lots of money. A few of the boys think they took to it naturally but they should just leave it to the professionals.”
The ten from the team were modelling the latest trends and designs from the Birmingham department store, Harvey Nichols.

With a hope to win against Stoke, they will successfully hold their Premier League status.

“Stoke have been a great team in the Premier League the last two seasons,” Keogh finished.

Prabuddha Dasgupta, a fashion photographer has commented about his country being colour biased. It appears as though India is being torn to pieces as more people are purchasing many products to help their skin complexion appear lighter. The obsession is known as, ‘Snow White Syndrome’.

“I’ve been battling this colour prejudice for a long time. As a brown-skinned nation, we’ve turned against each other. Beauty companies have always perpetuated this collective insecurity and there are impressionable young girls of 13 or 14 who are dark-skinned and think there is no life ahead of them. It’s appalling.”

Brand such as L’Oréal’s White Perfect and Hindustan Unilever’s Fair and Lovely seem to be increasing as more people are searching for the lighter look. However, fashion magazine Vogue (the Indian edition) is set to fight against the prejudice to darker skin tones.

The Vogue editorial has stated: “Every generation has its share of beauty myths. Perhaps it’s time to bust this one. Time to say that as a magazine, we love, and have always loved, the gorgeous colour of Indian skin … dark, dusky, bronze, golden - whatever you call it, we love it.”
The colour special is said to be named, “The dawn of dusk” and will be using British model Gia Johnson Singh, with four other models on the front cover; all with dark features.

Gia has reportedly suffered from racial prejudice in the country, she commented: “I heard someone talk about me on the phone saying ‘Oh, but she’s really dark’. It really got my back up. … I was shocked at the extent to which these creams are advertised by high-end brands. It’s really sad…”

Nirupama Singh, a fashion sociologist said, “Skin colour matters a lot for women in India. Fairness is a very valuable thing here, looked on as desirable. The fashion world can be a big agent for change in this area.”

Beautiful women have battled it out to help those in the Army with the Honeys for Heroes campaign; the ladies have been described as modern – day Vera Lynn’s.

The idea itself came by chance when photographer and former soldier, Kevin Wyllie was shooting model, Cheryl McQueen. He commented, “I was shooting a local model, Cheryl McQueen, who is the winner of the Miss Model of Scotland 2009 title, who mentioned her brother was due to pass out in my old regiment, the Scots Guards, and we decided to do a pin-up shoot for the troops. These shots were then posted on Facebook and I started to get enquiries from other girls asking how they could get involved.”

Honeys for Heroes uses the beauty of the women to help raise funds for soldiers in battle zones all over the world; the members travel events and fundraisers nationally to help raise awareness.

“Over just a few short weeks there was a small group of girls who did some shoots with myself and fellow photographers Stevie Manson and Colin Allan, another ex-Scots Guard. The idea came about that we could organise a modelling competition to recruit some other models into the group as well as raise some cash for two charities which we feel quite strongly about – Help for Heroes and the Scots Guards Colonel’s Fund.”
The most recent event was just a few weeks ago: in a search to find three more honeys to join the fundraising group. The women were in combat on the catwalk, at Glasgow’s Retrospect bar. The event raised £665, with the cash also being shared with Help for Heroes and Scots Guards Colonel’s Fund.

“A few of the guys I served with are out there now. These boys out there mean a lot to me, so I’ll do anything I can to help.” Kevin had added. He and two other photographers; Stevie Manson and Colin Allan; are looking at helping Honeys for Heroes become a nationwide charity.

The women who had entered the competition, had been chosen by both former soldiers and serving soldiers, one whom had received help from Help for Heroes after being involved in a car bomb in Iraq.

Next on the list is a Honeys For Heroes website and hopefully they will be participating in National Armed Forces Day parades. The group are certainly anticipated to do well with glamour models such as Clair Meek, Kitty Lea and Katie Green looking to help.

The Miss Norfolk 2010 press launch party is being held on Wednesday 7 th April, starting at 7 PM going on until late at beugla bar in Norwich.

Entry is free and open to everyone that has an interest in the contest or modelling industry as a whole. 

Organisers are asking for donations for heart FMs have a heart appeal,  working along side the Make a Wish Foundation, proceeds go to help sick and terminally ill children and to make their last wishes come true. The miss Norfolk beauty pageant is working along side heart FM to help them raise as much money as possible for this fantastic charity.

Press will be there aswel as the heart FM team so therefore dress code is smart (dresses/skirts for females and jeans/shirt for males)

Excellent chance for networking as well as scouting for new talent. 

It is a common ideology, that beauty pageants for children will lead them to significant insecurity and eating disorders in later life.
Andrew Fuller, a family psychologist believes that children being entered into pageants could cause them embarrassment and anxiety. He commented, “This is a good recipe for how to predispose your daughter into having an eating disorder … The risk is that they suddenly fear that their body shape is more important than their intellect.”
Another Psychologist, Dr Janet Hall believes that the pageants are causing the children to grow up quickly and they are believing that there image is more important than intelligence. “It makes a competition out of being more grown up than you are,” she said.
However, the organisers of Little Miss Bayside Pagaent believe that there competition is unlike American Pagaents, in which children are covered in fake tan and lashings of makeup.

The competition costs $100 to enter, with children up to the age of thirteen being judged on the way the photograph, model, their talents and ability to answer questions. With makeup not essential, organiser Laura Buik believes that is all about part-taking in the event.

“It's more about the kids getting up and having a go. They get a tiara . . . but the main prizes are the modelling contract and a three-day workshop.” Laura said.

The children pose in formal gowns, sport or swimwear and a casual outfit; “When it comes to the formal wear, we're looking more for like a party dress,” Buik explained.

Aside from all the posing, the children will have to show a talent such as, singing and dancing. Photo Categories include natural, glamour and a fun photo. If the child is above three they will also be judged on: confidence, sincerity and the way that they speak.

So, are child beauty pageants going top far? Or, are they an opportunity for children to show their talent and have fun at an event? Only time will tell as we watch these children grow and develop…

Kara Tointon has just showcased the third collection of Michelle underwear for George, the gorgeous actress is sporting the new Spring/ Summer range which has increased in cup size to fit larger busted women.

Heading in to get a weekend treat, alongside your fish and chips a gorgeous smile served by Hannah Pepperall. The 20 year old model works at Fishminister, Southville and is set to appear in the May edition of FHM.

Hannah has succeeded to triumph over 13,000 girls for the top 100 High Street Honeys and is now persuading those of Bristol to vote for her to win the competition. Beautiful with the natural look, is looking to get into the Catalogue and Editiorial side of modeling instead of the typical Glamour and Catwalk.

With previous work for Boots and La Senza there was encouragement from all around for her to enter the competition;  “ A lot of people told me to enter the competition, saying it would be a good way into modelling.I entered in July and had to go to London for a casting day and for photographs. And now I'm down to the final 100 and in the magazine.”

Posing in her bikini, Hannah says was completely relaxed during the casting; “I'm quite happy with the photograph in the magazine. But I'm quite a natural girl, and lots of the others have lots of make-up on, which didn't make me feel very confident. But I've had lots of support from people who think it's great. I really want to win.”

It has been a while since the beauty has appeared on the runway and suspicion occurred when the former supermodel was seen taking pictures of the catwalk, instead of walking them.

“I think my time has come to move on. It was not that I stopping enjoying modelling and doing fashion shows but I realised that I cannot do it forever. It is a very transient profession. One day it had to stop and I have decided to do something else now. I have started a new journey which is equally exciting and very creative. That is photography.”

Mallar believes that she is prepared to leave the modelling behind and move on to photography, “I was mentally prepared for the transition. I knew that I can’t do modelling forever. I have been doing it for a long time and I have loved being a part of the industry. It has given me a lot. I have made many friends but at the back of my mind I knew that one day had to come when I would have to take the decision to quit modelling.”

Sheetal continued, “So, when I decided to do something else I already had the power within me to accept quickly that I would not be modelling any more. I have happily made the transition. I always knew that I had to have something to fall back on when I’m not modelling and I loved photography since childhood. I have honed my talent always and this is what I want to do as my means of livelihood. Once in a while you might see me on the ramp but that’s basically because maybe my friend or someone close insists on having me.”

It is also reported that she won’t be going on to photograph fashion, but more photography projects. With her talent lying in fashion, it is interesting to see if she becomes as successful as a photographer.

“I would primarily do projects that are more conceptual. I love the classical photographers and their works. Though I would do fashion photography once in a while, it is not my main interest area. I would do projects that give my creativity the chance to excel,” Sheetal finished.

Amy Diamond the twenty two year model was the first of eleven contestants to go at the public vote; attempting to impress with Fergie’s Big Girls Don’t Cry, Amy was told she was more Legally Blonde than Dorothy.

With a sing off against fellow hopeful, Steph Fearon; the pair performed Whistle Down the Wind from musical Whistle Down the Wind to survive.

“This is an extraordinary competition. You two girls are the slight misfits in it, because we are seeking to fill the particular role of Dorothy…” Lord Lloyd-Webber had said, the judge was alone choosing one of the girls to save.

“In one sense you’re both not right for Dorothy… but tonight I have to save Steph. Amy, I genuinely think you’re fantastically talented… but you’re just not quite right for this role.” He continued.

Aspiring Dorothy, Amy had announced her previous entertainment experience; she had posed naked outside the houses of parliament and appeared in renowned lad mags.

“I’m really gutted, but I’ve had an amazing time.” Amy had said upon hearing the bad news. “I did what I came here to do. It shows you can be whoever you are – a model like me, you can be a mum, or work in a bank – you can fulfill your dreams, and I am going to keep pursuing my dreams.”

“Modelling was a great experience for me - it really opened my eyes to the entertainment industry. It enabled me to fund my singing and dancing lessons and go to auditions. I'm hoping it's not going to affect my changes at all.”

Judge Sheila Hancock believes that Amy is too sexy to play the role of Dorothy; “You’re a fantastic performer and very attractive. I worry that Dorothy is a girl who looks things straight in the eye, and never uses girly-ness.”

“She’s got to be very straight, but sometimes you find it difficult to strip that away. I would like to see you do something when you don’t fall back on that.” Sheila had told Amy on Saturday night.

John Partridge also appeared to agree, “I have to tell you Amy, I championed you - but I feel like you need to come out next time and be a bit less MTV and a bit more West End. More Dorothy, less Diamond.”

Beautiful young Irish model Aisling Quinn: daughter of Republic footballer, Niall and model Gillian is set to be a star on an international level.  

The sixteen year old has been signed up to Dublin’s 1 Option agency and is now being scouted by leading agencies in Paris and London whom also have her mother on their books.

It has been reported that the pair have been used in campaigns together, “We have had a fantastic response from international agencies in London and Paris in relation to Aisling.” Said the agencies spokeperson, Trish Fallon.

“Aisling has the perfect look for modelling and we have very big hopes for her once she is finished school. She really enjoys it and when the time comes myself and Gillian will help her decide if she wants to go on to work in either London or Paris, because there is definitely interest there.”

We will certainly be looking forward to seeing this star rise.
